July of 2020 might have been the most states I’ve ever run in in one month. It was a busy life month as I moved from New Jersey to California.

Biking Miles: 142.83
Thoughts:
As I moved across the country, it was a lot of fun to run in different states and environments. I definitely saw a lot of sights that way. During most of July, I removed workouts and just ran easy.
Since I’ve increased mileage for the Grit Summer Challenge, I didn’t want to increase mileage and add more speed. Plus, moving across the country was stressful in itself. Running mileage was easy, but I didn’t want to stress myself with hard workouts too. It was more enjoyable to run easy and enjoy the sights.
I enjoyed my biking in the first half of the month until I had to pack the bike up. I can’t believe I miss biking! On my last bike ride, I had my first fall and although banged up, I was fine.
My favorite workout in July wasn’t running, but hiking 30k for my 30th birthday! I knew I didn’t want to run 30 miles or even run 30k and hiking seemed like a lot of fun. I didn’t really think about how long it would take me until we were out there though. It was awesome!
Now that I’m settling into California, the “real work” of finding both a house and job begins. I can’t believe I live here now. I didn’t expect California to be so windy. Where I’m staying (a hotel_ is about 50 miles from the Bay Area, and it’s windier than any place I’ve run on the East Coast.
One of the most exciting things I did last month was to launch my Guide to Running Shoes Ebook. I worked the last few months on it and I’m pretty proud of it!
