It’s been another boring week of training down. Generally the last two months have been boring. I’ve been training, and consistently training at that, but I haven’t raced. I haven’t raced at my peak fitness since October and I will say I miss that! Hopefully the weather cooperates and this is my last week of not training.
Anyway, not that the week was bad because it wasn’t. I got what I needed and wanted out of the week but it was nothing exciting.
Monday: | Easy 60 minutes |
Tuesday: | Easy 75 minutes |
Wednesday: | REST |
Thursday: | 12X400s average 88 seconds |
Friday: | Easy 45 minutes |
Saturday: | Easy 45 minutes |
Sunday: | 14 miles/7 mile tempo |
On Wednesday, I had planned to do my workout and I woke up and realized my body was exhausted and not ready. Not only did I nix the workout, I didn’t run altogether. I am glad I went that route and with sleep and rest, I felt much better for my workout.
12x400s 88 seconds with 400 recovery
I ran on the road, and it was very similar to last week. I was happy I spent time resting and overall was happy with the workout. Truthfully, I do like doing speed work (even 400s) on the road because that is where I generally race.
Thoughts:
I am hopeful this will be one of the last weeks without racing. Unlike January, there are more local races in February. As you can probably tell from my training log, I am itching to get back out there and see where I’m at-fitness wise.

Questions for you:
How has the weather been where you are?
What is your next race?
Those are some speedy 400s out on the road! Nice work. I hope you can find a race to fit your appetite. I know there are very few around here this time of year so good luck 🙂
Training is really tough over the winter. Tough but necessary. Just had my first race last weekend on some ice. I already feel sharper from it. Next race is February 10th. A 2 miler on the road.
