Vital Performance Collagen Review

Recently Vital Proteins came out with the “Vital Performance” line.  I’m no stranger to Vital Proteins, and I’ve written about several of their products in the Guide to Vital Proteins Products.

One of the many things I appreciate Vital Proteins even has a section on its website to learn more about the various ingredients they use in their products. I like to know exactly what is going into my body, especially with supplements.

I was excited to see what the newest Vital Performance line was all out.

What Makes the Vital Proteins Vital Performance Line Different?

The Vital Proteins Vital Performance is a line of collagen-based products made to meet the needs of athletes. It’s created with no fillers,  synthetic dyes, gluten, dairy, or soy. All of the products are made for pre-workout or post-workout. Each product is made to provide athletes with a targeted benefit needed to promote energy, endurance, and muscle building.

In short, the Vital Performance line is made specifically for athletes, plus you’ll get the benefits of collagen. So what are they?

The Vital Performance PRE: “Before the workout.”

Vital Performance PRE is the only pre-workout on the market that contains collagen.

What else does the Vital Performance Pre Contain?

  • 5g of Collagen Peptides and 5g of BCAAs (supports muscle and joint health)
  • Coffeeberry coffee fruit extract  (delivers 140mg of coffee fruit caffeine)
  • 1.5g of Creatine Nitrate and 150mg of elevATP (boosts muscle strength and power output)

My experience with the Vital Proteins Vital Performance PRE:

There were a couple of unknowns for me when trying the PRE: First, I didn’t know how it would sit in my stomach before running. I had it a couple of hours before, and my stomach felt fine. Second, the PRE does contain caffeine, which can trigger jitters or even a headache. I didn’t feel that either which is the first time I’ve never had a “pre workout” trigger a migraine.

I was honestly shocked? I’ve never really believed in “pre-workouts” because I usually drink coffee, or the pre-workouts I’ve tried to leave me with a headache or migraine a few hours later.

This is really the first product I’ve found that doesn’t leave me jittery and it sits in my stomach well. You can mix it with smoothies or even oatmeal. It isn’t gritty and mixes well with both. I add mine with 8 ounces of water because I’m boring. Even with the caffeine, it doesn’t taste “chemically”.  A lot of caffeinated products taste like chemicals which isn’t enjoyable.

The Vital Performance RECOVER: Post Workout

Over the last year, I’ve tried to focus on my post-workout recovery. I’ve found collagen beneficial for me with my skin, nails, and hair but it also has protein to help me recover faster.

My Experience with the Vital Proteins Vital Performance Post Workout:

I make the Post Workout within 30 minutes of a workout. I find myself feeling less hungry throughout the day but also I really do recover faster. Like the PRE workout I mix it with smoothies but you can add it into most things. An easy smoothie I like is adding 8 oz of milk, the Post Workout, a banana, and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. It tastes good and allows me to recover faster too.

Vital Proteins Vital Performance is now found in Vitamin Shoppes. When I first started using Vital Proteins in 2016, it was next to impossible to find in stores. I don’t mind ordering online, but now it’s easily found in the Vitamin Shoppe. It’s been exciting to see the brand grow so much.
