Town and Country Diner (Toms River)

Last month when driving to the Toms River Diner, Cyd and I drove by the Town and Country Restaurant in Toms River. There was no internet proof of it and we thought, another new diner not that far away? Sweet!

Cyd is the owner of the website New Jersey Isn’t Boring, which provides information on all things New Jersey including: events, diners, and day trips.

The Town and Country Diner in Toms River isn’t to be confused with the Town and Country Diner in Bordentown. I’m sure there are more Town and Country Diners.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Atmosphere: B
The Town and Country Diner sticks out on the highway but that is because there isn’t much else along the way. The massive: breakfast, lunch, and dinner sign sticks out. The inside of the Town and Country Diner is modest and has several booths, and tables. It could use an update, but in general, it’s clean.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Coffee: A
The waitress refilled the coffee often and it tasted great. It’s one of the better diner coffees I’ve had recently.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Food: B
The Town and Country Diner menu has plenty of specials as well as the regular diner choices. They are known for their great food and cheap prices. There is all-day breakfast, lunch, and several dinner specials. I was between the gyro or the pork chops but decided to order the chicken gyro which came with soup as well as coffee.

The split pea soup was decent but there was nothing unusual or unique about it. I can never resist a good split pea soup but I do wish it was thicker. I enjoyed the croutons inside.

When the chicken gyro came out, it ended up being a greek salad with chicken. The Greek Salad was tasty and very filling but not what I was expecting. I would order it again and I was happy with my choice but I was surprised at first.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Service: C
The waitress was friendly but the food took a while to come out, plus it took a while to take our orders as well as get the check.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Cost: $
Since I ordered off the specials menu, my entire meal (including coffee) was $9.95.
