Town and Country Diner (Toms River)

Last month when driving to the Toms River Diner, Cyd and I drove by the Town and Country Restaurant in Toms River. There was no internet proof of it and we thought, another new diner not that far away? Sweet!

Cyd is the owner of the website New Jersey Isn’t Boring, which provides information on all things New Jersey including: events, diners, and day trips.

Town and Country Diner Toms River

The Town and Country Diner in Toms River isn’t to be confused with the Town and Country Diner in Bordentown. I’m sure there are more Town and Country Diners.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Atmosphere: B
The Town and Country Diner sticks out on the highway but that is because there isn’t much else along the way. The massive: breakfast, lunch, and dinner sign sticks out. The inside of the Town and Country Diner is modest and has several booths, and tables. It could use an update, but in general, it’s clean.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Coffee: A
The waitress refilled the coffee often and it tasted great. It’s one of the better diner coffees I’ve had recently.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Food: B
The Town and Country Diner menu has plenty of specials as well as the regular diner choices. They are known for their great food and cheap prices. There is all-day breakfast, lunch, and several dinner specials. I was between the gyro or the pork chops but decided to order the chicken gyro which came with soup as well as coffee.

The split pea soup was decent but there was nothing unusual or unique about it. I can never resist a good split pea soup but I do wish it was thicker. I enjoyed the croutons inside.

When the chicken gyro came out, it ended up being a greek salad with chicken. The Greek Salad was tasty and very filling but not what I was expecting. I would order it again and I was happy with my choice but I was surprised at first.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Service: C
The waitress was friendly but the food took a while to come out, plus it took a while to take our orders as well as get the check.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Cost: $
Since I ordered off the specials menu, my entire meal (including coffee) was $9.95.

Town and Country Diner (Toms River) Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back?
I liked the Town and Country Diner and it was one of the better diners I’ve been too.  I would go back!

Toms River Diner (Toms River)

Last week, Cyd from New Jersey Isn’t Boring and I went to the Toms River Diner.  The Toms River diner recently reopened after a two-year hiatus. The same owners also own the “Holiday City Diner,” which is one I haven’t been to yet.

Atmosphere: A
The Toms River Diner sticks out on the main road. The exterior of the Toms River Diner is cobblestone. The interior has been redone and is modern.

Coffee: A

Food: B
The Toms River Diner menu has everything a diner typically has. There are all the breakfast favorites, including omelets, waffles, and pancakes.

There was page of lunch specials on the Toms River Diner menu. I was hoping to find a special that spoke to me but decided to order the pork chops.

Toms River Diner greek salad

I decided to upgrade my salad to a side Greek Salad and I’m glad I did. The small Greek salad had everything, including anchovies. Sometimes I can’t even find a dinner size greek salad with anchovies.

The pork chops themselves were presented well, but they were dry. I was kind of bummed and hoping for better pork chops. The mashed potatoes and corn were bland and nothing to write home about.

Service: A
The waitress at the Toms River Diner was friendly and our food came out fast. I have no complaints.

Cost: $
For my pork chops, Greek salad, and coffee, it was $20.

Overall Thoughts/Summary:
I liked the Toms River Diner and it was a fun stop on the New Jersey Shore.

Silverton Diner (Toms River)

Silverton Diner (Toms River)

Silverton Diner (Toms River, NJ)

A couple of weeks ago, I met Cyd from New Jersey Isn’t Boring at the Silverton Diner right outside of Toms River. It’s one of the last diners we both hadn’t been too in the greater Toms River area.  Cyd and I have been to no less than 30 NJ diners together!

Silverton Diner Atmosphere: B
The Silverton Diner has a huge sign that can’t be missed. It’s located in a shopping mall.

The interior of the Silverton Diner has several booths, tables, and a bar. It’s a big space but nothing special or unique.  The one thing I couldn’t help but notice was the “Psychic Night.”  I would be curious to come back and see what it is all about.

Silverton Diner Coffee: A
The coffee at the Silverton Diner was brewed hot and fresh with plenty of refills.  It was good coffee.

Silverton Diner Food: B
The Silverton Diner menu has plenty of options. There are several breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials. I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I had a migraine, and I wasn’t that hungry.

I decided to order the pebble peaches salad with chicken. It was a small salad with greens, canned peaches, nuts, and chicken, crunchy noodles. It was topped with balsamic glaze was tasty.

It was a good salad for what I wanted for the day, but it wasn’t my favorite ever. If I had been more hungry, I know I would have been more disappointed.

Silverton Diner Service: C
Even though the Silverton Diner wasn’t that crowded, the waiter took a while to come back. He seemed disconnected from the table and his day. He was friendly, but it seemed like he didn’t want to be there and forget Cyd’s soup and brought out the wrong dressing.

Silverton Diner Cost: $
For the salad and coffee, it was $15.

Overall Thoughts/Would I come back to the Silverton Diner?
It wasn’t a bad diner, but the Silverton Diner wasn’t my favorite. It was right in the middle as far as diners go.

Afterward, we stopped next door at the local donut shop, which was excellent.

Fast Break Diner (Toms River)

Fast Break Diner (Toms River)

Fast Break Diner (Toms River, NJ)

Recently I went to the Fast Break Diner in Toms River with Cyd of New Jersey Isn’t Boring.  We have been to around 20 diners together, and it’s becoming increasingly more challenging to find diners neither of us has been too.

As many long-time followers know, in a distant life, I used to live much closer to Toms River, NJ.  My regret is not going to more shore diners.  Now it’s about 75 minutes to get out there.

We met at the Fast Break Diner around 11 am on a weekday, and it was crowded.  When we asked the host about it, they said it actually wasn’t as crowded as usual.

Fast Break Diner Atmosphere: A
The atmosphere of the Fast Break Diner is more intriguing than anything.  The outside is one large open window, and you can see everything inside of the Fast Break Diner.  The inside is a bright seashore blue.  It reminds me of a lot of the Papermoon Diner in Baltimore.  There are a lot of odds and ends trinkets around, but it fits the atmosphere of the Fast Break Diner.

Fast Break Diner Toms River

Fast Break Diner Service: A
Our waiter at the Fast Break Diner was great.  He refilled our beverages, and our food was out within minutes.  Definitely one of the better services I’ve had at a diner.

Fast Break Diner Coffee: A
The coffee at the Fast Break Diner was brewed hot every time, and the waiter gave me a giant cup of whipped cream, so it’s hard to argue with that.

Fast Break Diner Toms River

Fast Break Diner Food: B
The Fast Break Diner menu is more limited than most diners.  They have a few pancakes, omelets, sandwiches, and a few salads.  There wasn’t a lot of unique or exciting options minus the fried cheddar cheese balls.  Cyd and I opted to split them, which we quickly realized we ordered a lot of food.

Fast Break Diner Toms River

At the time, I’m not exactly sure what I was craving.  We went at an off time, so they were also out of a lot more food items, including pumpkin pancakes.  Nothing on the Fast Break Diner menu spoke to me, so I decided to order a roasted red pepper and artichoke omelet and an Indian summer salad.

Fast Break Diner Toms River

I ended up taking most of the omelet home.  It was great and had a lot of artichokes, roasted red pepper, as well as melted cheese.  It wasn’t greasy and one of the better diner omelets I’ve had.

I’ve never had an “Indian Summer Salad,” but it had lettuce, dried cranberries, pears, walnuts, and feta cheese.  It was a good diner salad, and I’ve had much worse.   Despite ordering a bit of everything, I was happy with my choice.

Fast Break Diner Toms River

In all, my food was good, but I do wish they had a few more menu options.

Fast Break Diner Cost: $
For my salad, omelet, coffee and the fried cheese balls, the cost was $20, which isn’t bad considering I had almost an entire second meal.

Overall Summary/Would I come back to the Fast Break Diner (Toms River)?

I liked the Fast Break Diner and would go back.  I do wish the Fast Break Diner menu was bigger or had more of the specials in stock, but other than that, I have no complaints.
