Salomon Aero Blaze 4 Shoe Review

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 Shoe Review

The Salomon Aero Blaze 4 is easily one of my favorite shoes of the year. That is a big claim because there are plenty of daily trainers in 2026. Right now, daily trainers is a weird market: some are heavy, and some are priced like race shoes without being race shoes. Remember the good ole days when they were as the name suggests…daily trainers. Anyway, I digress.

The Salomon Aero Blaze 4 is lightweight, comfortable, smooth, and versatile. It can handle easy runs, daily miles, faster pickups, treadmill runs, and long runs without feeling like too much shoe.

Salomon lists the Aero Blaze 4 as a road running shoe for training, with an all-new engineered mesh upper, optiFOAM² midsole, 8 mm drop, Road contaGRIP outsole, and a $140 price. Salomon says the Aero Blaze 4 is built for asphalt, roads, and city parks, which is exactly where I think it performs best.

Aero Blaze 4 Quick Facts

Yes, the Aero Blaze 4 fits true to size for most runners. It has a regular-width fit with a secure midfoot.

Now, let’s get into an honest Salomon Aero Blaze 4 shoe review.

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 Fit and Upper

The Aero Blaze 4 has an all-new engineered mesh upper, and it is one of the biggest reasons I like the shoe so much. The upper breathes well, wraps the foot comfortably, and does not have extra bulk that gets in the way.

The best running shoe uppers are simple and disappear off your foot. The tongue is simple and comfortable, and the traditional lacing system makes it easy to adjust. Salomon also uses a molded OrthoLite sockliner, which adds a little step-in comfort without changing the ride. I don’t think about the upper of the Aero Blaze 4 at all which…is exactly what I want in a running shoe upper. Especially a daily trainer!

The Aero Blaze 4 fits true to size for me. In running shoes, I wear between a women’s size 10-11 wide and the size 11 fits well. It does not have the roomiest toe box in the daily trainer category, but it is not overly narrow either. If you have a wider foot or usually size up in Salomon, I would stay with that pattern.

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 Ride

The ride is where the Salomon Aero Blaze 4 really wins me over. The optiFOAM² midsole has a good balance of cushioning and responsiveness. It is soft enough for daily training, but it still has some excitement when you pick up the pace.

A lot of daily training shoes right now are either maximal, plated, or trying to be race-day adjacent. The Aero Blaze 4 feels like a good running shoe. You can go out for 45 minutes easy, add strides, run a steady long run, or take it on the treadmill, and it doesn’t feel like you packed the wrong shoe.

The Reverse Camber geometry gives the shoe a smooth rolling transition. Salomon describes Reverse Camber as curved midsole geometry inspired by its ski heritage. In the Aero Blaze 4, that rocker is noticeable without feeling aggressive.

I like the Aero Blaze 4 most for daily runs that may turn into something faster. It has enough cushioning for easy miles, enough response for pickups, and enough traction that I don’t feel limited by weather or road conditions.

For me, the Salomon Aero Blaze 4 is one of the best lightweight daily trainers of 2026.

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 Outsole and Durability

Salomon is known for their trail shoes and that always shows up in their road shoe durability and traction. I haven’t had a Salomon shoe yet that I’m worried I may slide around or that doesn’t last a full 400 miles. The Aero Blaze 4 uses Road contaGRIP, which Salomon describes as flat, wide lugs for grip on hard surfaces, with a compound designed to balance durability and adhesion.

I would trust the Aero Blaze 4 on dry roads, wet roads, sidewalks, bike paths, treadmill belts, and light dirt paths. I’ve taken it on easy desert trails with no issues. It is not a trail shoe, but Salomon’s road outsole usually handles mixed surfaces better than many road shoes.

This is helpful if you run early, run in rain, travel often, or end up on random park paths and crushed gravel. The outsole adds to the shoe’s versatility without making it feel heavy.

The Aero Blaze 4 should hold up well for a lightweight daily trainer. Salomon’s Road contaGRIP gives it more outsole confidence than many shoes in the same category. I would expect it to fall into the normal daily trainer range for durability, with outsole wear depending on gait, surface, and how often you use it for faster runs. My best guess is at least 400 miles.

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 vs Salomon Aero Blaze 3

The Salomon Aero Blaze 3 was already a strong daily trainer, and I liked how light and versatile it was. The Aero Blaze 4 keeps the same general purpose but improves the upper and smooths out the ride.

The Aero Blaze 3 felt a little more straightforward and firmer. The Aero Blaze 4 feels more polished, more comfortable, and easier to use for a wide range of runs.

If you liked the Aero Blaze 3, you will likely like the Aero Blaze 4. If you thought the Aero Blaze 3 needed a better upper or a smoother transition, the Aero Blaze 4 is the update you wanted.

Salomon Aero Blaze 4 vs Salomon Aero Glide 4

The Salomon Aero Glide 4 is the more cushioned option. It is better for recovery runs, long easy runs, and runners who want more stack underfoot.

The Aero Blaze 4 is lighter, quicker, and more versatile for daily training with pace changes. It is the shoe I would grab for a run where I don’t know exactly what pace I’ll end up running.

Choose the Aero Glide 4 if you want more cushion. Choose the Aero Blaze 4 if you want a lighter daily trainer that can handle easy runs and faster efforts.

Who Should Buy the Salomon Aero Blaze 4?

  • You want a lightweight daily trainer that can handle a little bit of everything.
