The Salomon Aero Glide 3 has been on my radar. I liked the first version, and Salomon is always one of the most requested brands on the blog. If you’re looking for a lightweight, high-cushion road running shoe that doesn’t sacrifice stability or responsiveness, the Aero Glide 3 might be exactly what you need. With its updated midsole foam and refined fit, this is Salomon’s answer to the modern daily trainer…light, energetic, and built for comfort.
Before trying the Salomon Aero Glide 3, I had a few questions:
- What is the Salomon Aero Glide 3 good for? It’s a great daily trainer that can handle easy runs, recovery runs, and even picking up the pace.
- Does the Salomon Aero Glide 3 fit true to size? Yes, and some may argue it fits on the wider side. The Salomon Aero Glide 3 is the best Salomon shoe for those with wider feet.
- Is the Salomon Aero Glide 3 good? Yes, it’s one of my favorite shoes from Salomon.
Now let’s get into an honest Salomon Aero Glide 3 shoe review.

Salomon Aero Glide 3 Upper and Fit
Salomon took a different approach with the Aero Glide 3’s upper. The construction avoids internal stitching entirely, which creates a super smooth interior. I’m a big fan of this updated upper because it means no hotspots, no awkward seams…just a breathable engineered mesh that molds nicely to the foot. I really like it.
Right off the bat, the Aero Glide 3 felt comfortable on my feet. While I’m all for modern technology, at the end of the day I just want an upper that fits. It can be basic, it can fancy but please make it comfortable and Salomon achieves that.
The heel is secure thanks to a semi-rigid counter, and the collar has enough padding to feel comfortable without being bulky. The toe box is fairly roomy, and I think the Aero Glide 3 is one of the wider shoes I’ve tried from Salomon.
The best running shoes disappear off your feet, and the Aero Glide 3 does just that. As mentioned, when I put the shoe on it was comfortable. No hot spots, and I was able to take it immediately for a run. It fits well and is even fairly roomy for a Salomon shoe. I have no complaints. I put it on for the first time and immediately went out for a run with no issues.
In running shoes, I wear a women’s size 10–11 wide, and the size 11 fits well. If you’ve wanted to try a Salomon shoe but they’ve run too narrow for your feet, consider trying the Aero Glide 3.
Salomon Aero Glide 3 Ride
The midsole is where the magic happens, right? At the heart of the Aero Glide 3 is Energy Foam EVO, Salomon’s new eTPU-based midsole. This supercritical foam brings a mix of responsiveness and cushioning that feels great for daily training. While I missed the second version, the third version of the Aero Glide is awesome for training.
There’s plenty of foam underfoot…40mm in the heel and 32mm in the forefoot…but the ride doesn’t feel mushy. To me, it doesn’t look like it would be that cushioned of a shoe, but the Aero Glide 3 definitely is. The platform is wide and stable, especially through the heel and forefoot, while the midfoot taper keeps transitions snappy. Even though there’s no plate, the shoe feels responsive and quick off the toe.
I don’t know why I was so surprised that despite the cushion, it’s still such a responsive shoe. It isn’t a super mushy shoe, and you’re able to pick up the pace when needed. It’s soft enough for recovery days but lively enough that you won’t feel held back.
Where does the Salomon Aero Glide 3 fit into my rotation? As mentioned, I found them comfortable right out of the box. I took them for an easy run, and they felt great. I’ve taken them out for all sorts of runs…from easy runs to recovery runs to some harder efforts…and I’ve found them best for those daily runs. You can pick up the pace, and I appreciate that they are responsive enough to do that, but the high cushion is great for recovery. The Aero Glide is a great shoe to do the bulk of your miles and a good one to pack if you have no idea what kind of run you’re going to do for the day.
Outsole
Salomon uses its trusted Contagrip outsole for the Aero Glide 3, and the coverage is solid. Rubber rings the entire perimeter and fills in key contact points, while a central cutout reduces weight and adds some flexibility. It’s clear Salomon has great trail shoes because their road shoes also have enough traction for inclement weather and some mild trails. I’ve taken mine out for many easy runs in the sandy Mojave trails and had no issues.
As far as durability, I anticipate the Aero Glide 3 to last a full 400 miles. While I haven’t tried a ton of Salomon shoes, the ones I have have all lasted 400+ miles, and I don’t think the Aero Glide will be any different.
Salomon Aero Glide 3 Conclusion
The Aero Glide 3 stands out as a high-cushion daily trainer that combines comfort, responsiveness, and versatility. It’s light on foot, fits a wide range of runners…including those with wider feet…and handles everything from recovery miles to moderate pickups. The smooth interior and roomy fit make it one of the most comfortable Salomon shoes I’ve tried. If you’re looking for a reliable, daily running shoe, the Aero Glide 3 is worth considering. In my opinion, it’s one of the best shoes I’ve tried for 2025.

Your post made me think, is Noah Droddy still running and sponsored by Salomon? Guess he retired from at least being a super serious runner last year. I was pumped when he started running in Salomon running shoes a few years back.
