Preparing for Valentine’s Day

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!

Are you ready or are you like me that you are running around like a goober trying to figure out what to do? (Just kidding T because I know you read here and I’m working ;).  All kidding aside, Valentine’s Day is one of the most (unnecessarily) stressful holidays of the year.

Whether I have been single or not, I have always enjoyed Valentine’s Day.  I don’t really care that it’s a “Hallmark Holiday” or that it’s overly obsessed.  I enjoy themes and a reason to be festive.  I’m not saying to spend a fortune but I do enjoy the day.  I enjoy St. Patrick’s day and Fourth of July just as much.

Last year Tim and I went and ran the Virginia is for Lovers 14k.  It was a lot of fun and as much as I would love to run the race again, J&A isn’t doing it.  I hope one day it makes a return but I know races in that area are a pain.

Instead of posting a few articles about what to cook (because I’m a terrible cook), I decided I would post some hilarious Valentine’s Day eCards as well as interesting articles.  One of the most important aspects of Valentine’s Day is having the best card.  Flowers, chocolate and candy are all secondary.  Feel free to print them out and send them to your favorite Valentine (which is me of course!).

  1. I’m so not a valentine’s day person! But I am just not sentimental about anything. I sound like a cold robot, huh? Anyhow…I do get my kids each a little box of chocolate and a card and call it a day. Mr. Z. and I find other times to get out and about and mark it.

  2. Haha, our usual valentine’s day is waffle house because I think it’s funny. They do a candle lit dinner here. We celebrate for real on another day because it’s so hard to get a reservation at restaurants here and they’re packed anyway. I’d rather have a crazy, goofy, and unique way of celebrating anyway than the traditional stuff. As for me, I am running a Valentine’s 8K tomorrow and Clay is volunteering, so it’ll be a neat celebration.

  3. My sister knew I’d be solo on Valentines Day so our families are getting together (minus Mr. Law) Or else I’d probably eat ice cream and watch tv marathons all day 🙂 Have a great day Hollie!!

  4. No plans. I just told my hubby I wanted a heart shaped pizza from papa Murphys. Loove it.! Andd I do plan on getting my husband a wedding ring. Because I’m horrible and never did (we never had a wedding, just got married ) and he has bought me two rings, because I lost my first set. Soo I think he really deserves one. Lol

  5. ” I enjoy themes and a reason to be festive. ” <– Ditto! I'll use any excuse for getting a little more excited about a day, so I have no beef with Valentine's whatsoever. I was even tempted to buy a box of Disney princess Valentine's and give them out to random people 😆

    Have a good weekend, Hollie!

  6. I love that you love Valentines Day! I definitely love an excuse to go out for a nice dinner with my husband and some friends and the kids love all the cards and candy. Win/win!!

  7. I will probably be hibernating unless the Boston storm doesn’t hit like it is supposed to! But actually I’m single anyway so I would probably be hibernating anyway:) I’m a dork so knitting, t.v., dinner… all sounds like a perfect evening to me! Happy weekend!

  8. I like Valentine’s Day. I think it’s cute, and after Christmas and New Years there is just this long stretch of no holidays without it, so I like a reason to be a little festive.

  9. LOL @ the beaver card. I just sent that to my husband. We really aren’t big V-Day people, we had a heart shaped breakfast for the kids this morning and taking them out for lunch. That’s about it 😉 Party.Animals.

  10. Nothing going on today. I just wrote a post on my V-day nostalgia…in the past it has always been a significant holiday to me. Incidentally, I actually worked at Hallmark throughout my undergraduate years. I love the cards and I love your eyebrows! 🙂
