2026 was the first year I think the Angels 5K was a full 5K. The problem, not really a problem because it’s fun, is that the Angels 5K goes through the Anaheim Angels stadium. You lose GPS for a minute or two, which means you don’t truly know: did I run 3.1 miles? But that’s okay; the benefit and fun definitely outweigh it. Who doesn’t want to run in a stadium?
Before the Angels 5K:
I’ve been feeling a bit run down since starting a new job. Times of transition, I always try to tell myself: stress is stress. This 5K happens to be one of my favorite 5Ks of the year, and I did want to run well, so I focused on getting as much sleep as possible. And believe me: I did. I ended up taking the day before off work because I needed to run some errands and get a haircut. My drive down to Anaheim was easy and uneventful, and I went to bed early. I finally felt pretty rested. I had sat for a good 7-8 hours the day before, which maybe I should have done some more to stretch out…
Race day came, and I got to the 5K early. I always recommend people get there around 6:30 for the 8 am Angels 5K race start. Parking gets chaotic, and they only have a couple of gates open.
I knew my body was stiff, so I ended up doing about a 3-mile warm-up. As they say, “I needed it.” I got to the 5K around 7:50 for the 8 am start. The Angels 5K race started at 8:07 am.
Angels 5K Race:
The Angels 5K race start is always kind of crazy, and I’ve learned my lesson the hard way to start up front. I found myself as second woman overall, where I stayed the entire race. I could see the first-place woman, who was maybe 15-20 seconds ahead, but I did not have it in me. The first mile goes around the parking lot and has a ton of turns. I ran a 6:12.
As we headed into the stadium, I found myself with a pack of dudes that kind of pulled me along. The floor in the stadium is kind of slippery, and there are more turns, but I kept telling myself to run the tangent. Going around the stadium, it’s very easy to add extra distance. As we headed down the ramp, I thought I might be catching the first-place woman, but I just didn’t have the leg speed. I hit the second mile in 5:57, but I know I lost GPS, and it said I was running 9-minute pace.
The third mile of the Angels 5K is maybe the most fun. You get to run around the warning track and they have some sort of bubble foam thing you can run through. One year I want to try it! I was tired but just pushing as hard as I could, and it said I ran a 6:19 there, although you do go under the stadium around the warning track and toward the finish. I crossed mile 3 in 6:19 and just sprinted as hard as I could to the finish.
I crossed the Angels 5K finish line in 19:19 and as second woman overall.
Angels 5K Thoughts:
In all, a good race and motivation booster. This is the first year that I think it was an accurate course and true 5K. Usually it’s around 3 miles, so if you ran, I am interested in what you think!
Angels 5K in Anaheim FAQ
When is the Angels 5K in Anaheim?
The 2026 Angels 5K and Fun Run was Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Usually the race is in June but due to World Cup being hosted in June, it was moved up in 2026. The 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:00 am, and the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 8:30 am. If you are searching for an Anaheim 5K or an Orange County 5K at Angel Stadium, this is the race connected to the Angels Baseball Foundation.
Where is the Angels 5K held?
The 5K is held at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, located at 2000 East Gene Autry Way in Anaheim, California. Use the Orangewood entrance for packet pickup and race day.
What time does the Angels 5K start?
The 5K starts at 8:00 am. The 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 8:30 am. Since it is a stadium race, I would still plan to arrive early for parking, packet pickup and bathrooms. Most of the entrances are closed and to get to the Angels 5k start use the Orangewood entrance.
Does the Angels 5K run through Angel Stadium?
Yes, the 5K course takes runners through parts of Angel Stadium, including the parking lot, stadium concourses, and warning track. That is what makes it different from many sports 5ks. Many including the Phillies 5k only run through parking lot, but you actually get to into the stadium and around the warning track with the Angels 5k.
Can walkers do the Angels 5K?
Yes, walkers can do the 5K. The race is listed as a 5K Run/Walk, so it is designed for both runners and walkers. That makes it a good option for newer runners, families, Angels fans, and anyone who wants a fun race morning without worrying about pace.
Is there a 1-mile fun run at the Angels 5K?
Yes, the 5K includes a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. That is a good option for kids, families, or anyone who wants to be part of race morning without doing the full 5K. Stadium races work well for this because the venue itself is part of the draw.
What do you get with Angels 5K registration?
For the 2026 Angels 5K, the first 5,000 registered runners receive a commemorative race shirt, finisher medal, sponsor swag or discounts, and two Angels ticket vouchers for an upcoming game, subject to availability. That makes the registration feel more like an Angels event than just another local 5K.
Do Angels 5K runners get Angels tickets?
The first 5,000 registered runners for the 2026 Angels 5K receive two Angels ticket vouchers for an upcoming game, subject to availability. If the ticket vouchers are one of the reasons you are registering, I would sign up sooner rather than waiting until the last minute.
Is the Angels 5K good for kids?
Yes, the 5K is good for kids, especially because there is a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk in addition to the 5K. The Angel Stadium setting also makes it more fun for kids who may not care about running but do care about being inside the baseball stadium.
Where do you park for the Angels 5K?
The race takes place at Angel Stadium, so parking is tied to the stadium area. I would check the official race instructions before race morning because parking details can change by year. Even with stadium parking, give yourself extra time because race mornings always add extra walking, lines, and people standing around trying to find their bib. I recommend getting to the Angels 5k around 6:30.
