PYNRS Performance Streetwear Review

I have seen PYNRS floating around for a while so I was excited to try some of the gear. As a community driven brand, with direct ties to Boston it’s always fun to see more unique options pop up. A lot of brands say “I’m different” or “I’m doing things in a unique way”, but I truly believe PYNRS is doing that.

PYNRS FAQ:

Is PYNRS good for running?
Yes, PYNRS is made for running, not just wearing to a run club photo. The pieces include technical details like storage, reflectivity, stretch fabrics, fitted waistbands, and race-day pockets.

How does PYNRS sizing run?
PYNRS has more of a performance fit, so I would check each product before ordering. Some pieces are slim, and some are meant to sit closer to the body. If you are between sizes or hate anything too fitted, read the size notes carefully.

Is the PYNRS Torrey Longline Bra good for running?
The PYNRS Torrey Longline Bra is a medium-impact sports bra with a longer cut and two drop-in pockets. It is best for runners who want support, storage, and something more interesting than a basic black running bra. It’s one of my favorite run bras.

Are PYNRS running shorts worth it?
PYNRS running shorts are expensive, but they have more going on than a basic pair of shorts. The Dakota 4″ Short has a high waist, internal drawcord, multiple pockets, and reflectivity.

What does PYNRS mean?
PYNRS is pronounced “pioneers.” The brand came from PIONEERS Run Crew in Boston and was founded by Sidney Baptista. They built running apparel built around performance, streetwear, culture, and community.

About PYNRS Performance Streetwear

PYNRS Performance Streetwear is not another running apparel brand trying to make the same shorts in a different color. PYNRS, pronounced “pioneers,” was founded by Sidney Baptista after he created PIONEERS Run Crew in Dorchester, Boston. The brand grew from a simple gap in running: a lot of apparel was not designed, fitted, or styled for the runners actually filling today’s roads, run clubs, and marathons.

PYNRS is rooted in running, streetwear, culture, and community. The brand focuses on premium running apparel made with recycled fabrics, technical construction, and fits tested by runners of different levels, shapes, and sizes. We know by now that running apparel has historically been built around a narrow idea of what a runner looks like. PYNRS takes a different approach by designing performance streetwear for the runners who have often been overlooked. I love this!

The brand makes running shorts, half tights, sports bras, singlets, tanks, pants, jackets, socks, and accessories with a streetwear influence and performance details. Think storage, reflectivity, stretch, and race-ready function, but with styling that does not feel boring.

PYNRS Performance Streetwear is best for runners who want technical running apparel with identity, culture, and actual function behind it.

Gear I Tried:

PYNRS Torrey Longline Bra

I love a good long line sports bra. The PYNRS Torrey Longline Bra is one of the more practical pieces in the PYNRS Performance Streetwear women’s line. It is a medium-impact running bra with a longer cut, soft fabric, and two drop-in pockets at the body hem. Basically, it is made for runners who want support, storage, and a bra that does not look like every other sports bra online.

The Torrey Longline Bra costs $78 and comes in Royalty, Fatigue, and Black. The shell is 78% recycled polyamide and 22% elastane, with an 80% polyamide and 20% elastane lining. That gives it stretch without feeling flimsy. I’ve had some issues in the past with brands that use recycled fabric that is irritating when actually running, but that isn’t the case here. No chafing reported.

For running, the biggest selling feature is the storage. The two drop-in pockets make it easier to carry small essentials, gels, or a key without relying only on shorts. The reflective logo is a nice touch for early morning or evening miles.

The PYNRS Torrey Longline Bra is best for runners who want a supportive, fitted, streetwear-inspired sports bra with usable storage. It is not cheap, but it has more function than a basic bra. In all, it’s become a staple bra for me, especially during longer efforts where I need a few more storage pockets.

PYNRS Magnolia Track Pant

Purchase here

The PYNRS Magnolia Track Pant is one of those pieces that fits the whole PYNRS Performance Streetwear idea well. When I visualize the brand PYNRS, these pants come to mind. The Magnolia Track Pant feels like a cross between warmup pant, travel pant, post-run layer, and streetwear-inspired running apparel.

The Magnolia Track Pant costs $221 and comes in Midnight Moss. It is made from 100% nylon with a woven iridescent fabric, which gives it more structure than a soft jogger. The classic fit and 31-inch inseam make it feel relaxed without looking sloppy, and the adjustable bungee at the leg openings lets you change the shape depending on shoes, weather, or how you want it to sit.

For runners, the best features are the storage and visibility. The 360-degree reflective piping and reflective logo also make it better for early morning shakeouts, evening walks, race travel, or wearing to and from a workout.

The PYNRS Magnolia Track Pant is best for runners who want a technical streetwear pant that works before and after the run, not necessarily during hard miles. I’m a big fan and they are so lightweight and fun.

Cost:

The elephant in the room is obviously the cost. PYNRS is one of the more costly brands out there. Is PYNRS worth it? Yes and it also depends what you value in a running brand. If community is valuable to you, then supporting those who support community is important.

PYNRS Performance Streetwear Review

Conclusion

PYNRS Performance Streetwear fills a specific niche, whether people realize it or not. There aren’t a lot of brands with a strong identity and tie to community like PYNR and that is where part of the draw is. I’m definitely interested in trying some of their race fits next.
