Saucony Triumph 24 Shoe Review

Saucony Triumph 24 Shoe Review

The Saucony Triumph 24 is one of the more surprising updates of 2026. The Triumph has always been Saucony’s premium cushioned daily trainer, but some versions have felt heavy, overbuilt, or just a little too sleepy for the price. The Triumph 24 finally feels like Saucony remembered that a max-cushion shoe can still have some life to it.  I’ve worn the Saucony Triumph since the ISO version and I’m having a hard time thinking that was 11 years ago.

The biggest change is the new IncrediLUX foam. Saucony moved away from PWRRUN PB in the Triumph and gave the 24 a taller stack, lower weight, and a more energetic ride. On paper, that is exactly what the Triumph needed…More cushion without making the shoe feel like a brick? Yes, please. Like it or not, we live in a world where more cushion is currently king.

Of course, a spec sheet can only tell you so much. A shoe can be light and cushioned and still feel weird. Thankfully, the Triumph 24 feels like one of the better Triumph updates in a while.

Let’s get into an honest Saucony Triumph 24 shoe review

Saucony Triumph 24 Fit and Upper

The Saucony Triumph 24 upper is exactly what I want in this kind of shoe: comfortable, padded enough, and secure without feeling bulky. The breathable comfort mesh is a good update because max-cushion shoes can get warm fast, especially during summer training. In the Mojave Desert, we’ve already had plenty of 100+ degree days so uppers that don’t breathe are not my cup of tea.

The heel collar and tongue have enough padding to feel premium, although the shoe does not feel overly stuffed. That has been my issue with some cushioned trainers. They try so hard to feel soft that they end up feeling heavy on foot.

I would start true to size in the Triumph 24. The fit is secure through the midfoot, with enough room in the toe box for daily mileage. It is not a wide-foot-first shoe, but Saucony does offer wide sizing, which is helpful for runners who usually find the standard fit too snug. I have worn a size 10-11 wide in the Triumph and with the 24th version, the size 11 fits the best.

For longer runs, I appreciate a shoe that disappears on foot. The Triumph 24 does a good job of that. It has comfort without demanding attention every mile. In a daily trainer, you want a comfortable shoe that you don’t think about and the Saucony Triumph 24 does just that.

Saucony Triumph 24 Ride

The midsole is where the magic happens and the ride is the reason to care about the Triumph 24. The new IncrediLUX foam gives the shoe more bounce and less weight than I expected from something with a 43 mm heel. Is the Saucony Triumph 24 a big update? The answer is yes with this foam change.

The Triumph 24 is still a cushioned daily trainer. It is not a speed shoe, a plated trainer, or a race-day option. But it does have more range than older Triumph models. Easy runs feel smooth, long runs feel protected, and steady miles do not feel like you are fighting the shoe.

The 10 mm drop is classic Triumph. I like a higher-drop shoe for easy mileage and long runs, especially when my calves are tired from workouts or racing. If you prefer lower-drop trainers, the Triumph 24 may feel high in the heel, although the transition is smooth enough that it does not feel clunky.

The shoe feels best when you settle into normal daily mileage. It can handle some pace changes, but I would not choose it for track workouts or faster tempos. For that, I would rather use something like the Topo Specter 3 or the Saucony Endorphin Speed.

Where the Triumph 24 works best is the run after a hard workout, the long run where your legs are already tired, or the easy day where you want cushion without dragging around a heavy shoe.

Saucony Triumph 24 Outsole

Saucony uses XT-900 carbon rubber on the outsole, which is a good call for a high-mileage trainer. If you are buying the Triumph 24, you are likely expecting it to last. A $170 daily trainer needs to handle a lot more than a carbon plated shoes.

The outsole coverage is practical, and the rubber should give the shoe better durability than some softer, exposed-foam trainers. I would use the Triumph 24 on roads, paved paths, treadmill runs, and light gravel. I’ve used it on the light desert trails with no issues.

I would also expect this outsole to handle wet roads reasonably well, although I would still be careful on painted lines, sharp turns, and slick sidewalks…but tbh that is really most running shoes these days.

Where the Saucony Triumph 24 Fits in a Rotation

The Saucony Triumph 24 fits as your cushioned daily trainer and long-run shoe. It is the shoe for regular miles, recovery runs, and days when you want protection underfoot.

A good rotation could include the Triumph 24 for easy and long runs, the Saucony Endorphin Pro 5 for racing, and a faster workout shoe for intervals or tempos. If you like rotating shoes, I have a post on how alternating running shoes can help your running.

The Triumph 24 also overlaps with shoes like the Hoka Skyward X 2 and On Cloudmonster 3, although the Triumph feels more like a traditional daily trainer than a super trainer.

Saucony Triumph 24 vs Saucony Triumph 23

The Triumph 24 is a bigger update than the Triumph 23. The stack gets taller, the foam changes to IncrediLUX, and the weight drops to 8.8 oz for men and 7.6 oz for women.

The Triumph 23 was already lighter than the Triumph 22, but the Triumph 24 takes the line in a better direction. It feels more modern without becoming strange. The extra stack gives more protection, and the weight drop keeps it from feeling like too much shoe.

If you liked the Triumph 23, the Triumph 24 should feel smoother and livelier. If you skipped the Triumph line because it felt heavy in past years, this is the version that may change your opinion.

Closest Competitors

The Saucony Triumph 24 competes with high-cushion neutral trainers like the ASICS Gel Nimbus, Brooks Glycerin, New Balance 1080, Nike Vomero, Hoka Bondi, and On Cloudmonster.

The Triumph 24 stands out because it has a high stack, a lighter weight, and a 10 mm drop. Many max-cushion shoes feel soft and slow. The Triumph 24 has enough energy to keep daily miles from feeling dull.

Best Uses for the Saucony Triumph 24

I would use the Saucony Triumph 24 for easy runs, recovery runs, long runs, treadmill runs, and high-mileage weeks. It is a good option for marathon training because it protects your legs without feeling as heavy as some max-cushion trainers.

I would not use it as a race shoe. I also would not choose it for short, fast intervals. The Triumph 24 can pick up the pace, but it is still happiest doing daily trainer things.

Who Should Buy the Saucony Triumph 24

  • You want a high cushioned neutral daily trainer
  • You like super trainers but still prefer something more traditional

Who Should Skip the Saucony Triumph 24

  • You want a lower drop trainer or racing shoe
  • You don’t like tall stack shoes

Saucony Triumph 24 Conclusion

The Saucony Triumph 24 is the best Triumph update in several years and I don’t say that lightly. It gives you the soft, protected ride people expect from the Triumph line, but it finally feels lighter and more energetic.

I like it most for daily mileage, long runs, recovery runs, and marathon training. The IncrediLUX foam makes the shoe feel less sleepy than older Triumph models, and the weight drop helps it avoid the bulky feeling that can ruin max-cushion trainers.

If you want a cushioned neutral running shoe that can handle a lot of miles without feeling dead underfoot, the Saucony Triumph 24 is one of the better daily trainers of 2026.

  1. Saucony has always been a bit of a challenge. when I started selling shoes, I think it was the Triumph 14? and there was a version of the Brooks Adrenaline that were hard sells, very few that tried either on bought them…and while Brooks made a change and now one brand that always sells thanks to some innovation, Saucony seems to play with their cushioning and support season after season…I keep trying to go back every season, but ever since they got rid of the Grid Stabile, just not the same…..
