I was excited to try the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport. I needed a casual shoe that wasn’t a running shoe. In fact, they’ve already become my casual Friday shoe at work (most of the rest of the week, I’ve been wearing Rothy’s). The Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport blends style and comfort for those who demand day-to-night performance. This latest iteration features a supple leather upper, making it both sleek and functional. With a lightweight feel, extra bounce, and a carbon-fiber plate, the Sequence 1.1 Sport delivers a lively stride while maintaining premium comfort. Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport Fit
The Sequence 1.1 Sport’s upper is crafted from ultra-soft leather, offering a premium look and a snug fit. This material molds to the foot over time for customized comfort. The shoe includes a webbing lace-keeper to prevent tongue migration and microfiber lace locks for added stability. The fit is casual and accommodates interchangeable insoles, making it good for those who need orthotic support.
Even though the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport features a leather upper, it’s so lightweight. I actually didn’t realize it was leather until I read the tech sheet because that’s how lightweight and breathable it is.
As far as fit, the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport fits well. It’s not a tight-fitting shoe (no shoe should be). In daily wear shoes, I wear between a size 10–11 wide, and I’ve found the size 11 to fit perfectly.
Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport Ride
Since Ahnu is owned by the same brands as HOKA and UGG, I would expect nothing less than a comfortable ride—and wow, does it not disappoint. I keep thinking: have I just been wearing trash in my casual shoes all this time? The answer is no, but I can’t emphasize enough how comfortable the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport is.
Ahnu utilizes SCF TPU foam in the midsole, tuned for energy return and responsiveness. This provides a cushioned feel without sacrificing bounce, making each step feel effortless. A forked carbon-fiber plate enhances propulsion and stability. I don’t understand why a casual shoe needs a carbon plate, but I cannot overemphasize how comfortable the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport is.
Outsole
Instead of traditional rubber, Ahnu equips the Sequence 1.1 Sport with a CPU (Cast Polyurethane) outsole. This material is both ultralight and flexible, improving traction and durability. It’s no secret that I’m clumsy, and especially in my casual shoes, I need traction. The Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport does not disappoint. My only fear about inclement weather is getting the shoe dirty…not falling.
Price
At $240, this shoe is not cheap. The Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport falls into the premium sport category. With the combination of leather and a carbon plate, I can see why. Is the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport worth it? I think so. As runners, we are particular about paying a premium for non-running shoes, but compared to some other brands of casual shoes, the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport is not really that expensive.

In all, I’m a huge fan of the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport. It’s comfortable and stylish. I’ve had so many compliments from people asking where I got the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport. For those who value premium materials, a sleek design, and all-day comfort, the Ahnu Sequence 1.1 Sport is a fun choice. Its mix of modern technology and classic style makes it a great addition to any wardrobe. It makes me feel like a fashion influencer—LOL.
