Form Nutrition Review

Form Nutrition Review

Recently I tried Form Nutrition. This particular protein powder is both eco-friendly and 100% vegan.  There are so many protein powders out on the market these days, and of course, some are better than others. I wanted to know:

Does Form Nutrition taste good? Is it gritty?

Does Form Nutrition upset your stomach?

What is the quality of ingredients in Form Nutrition?

While I’m not vegan, many people are, and it can be hard to find a protein powder that isn’t made from the whey that tastes good! Plus, their combination of plant-based proteins ensures you get a complete range of amino acids each time you use them. There surely has to be a downside with so many promises, right?

About the brand Form Nutrition:

The founder, Damien Soong was inspired after watching the documentary Cowspiracy. The documentary investigated the impact of animal agriculture on the environment before that Soong had an interest in exercise and nutrition.

He actually began a career in banking and eventually shifted into business. He began working in the startup world and building companies like Orbel Health (a patented alcohol gel dispenser for hospitals) and Hydrachem (manufacturer of chlorine tablets for hospital disinfection).

His next brand, Form Nutrition, was developed as a plant-based protein powder and nootropic supplement. What is a “nootropic supplement”? They are supplements that can boost mental and physical performance.

When he began looking at the nutrition industry, he saw it was crowded with personas like the “gym bro” oh “hippie.”  He created Form Nutrition which offers a range of vegan protein powder packed with superfoods, digestive enzymes, and other good-for-you ingredients.

Form Nutrition is on a mission to create good products for us and the planet. In addition to creating 100% vegan protein powders, they give free meals to those in need and are a certified B Corp.

About the Form Nutrition Products:

I tried both the Performance Protein and Superfood Protein. As the names suggest, Performance Proteins are designed for working out where the Superfood Protein is designed to help you get your daily dose of nutrients.

Performance Protein:

Form Nutrition Performance Protein is made from organic pea protein and brown rice to deliver 30g of complete amino acid profile vegan protein per serving with no animal products. It combines both Curcumin and 5g BCAA per serving.

The vegan protein is a specialty formula designed to provide a Form vegan protein with a  complete spectrum of amino acids. It also emits the use of thickeners and emulsifiers. By providing all nine amino acids, it ensures optimal muscle growth and repair.

What makes the performance protein different?

  • vegan
  • dairy-free
  • gluten-free
  • GMO and soy-free
  • Compostable pack

My experience with Performance Protein:

I was excited to try the Performance Protein. I’ve been working hard to have a protein source directly after running or swimming.

Taste: I tried the Chocolate Peanut Flavor. It was easy to mix, and I didn’t even need a blender to make it taste “less gritty.” I always like to mix mine with water first and get a good sense of the overall flavor. The Form Nutrition Protein Powder does taste like a sweeter chocolate peanut flavor. Often chocolate protein powders are too bitter, but this tastes almost like chocolate milk. I feel good afterward and don’t have an upset stomach. In all, I really like it.

Superfood Blend:

The second Form Nutrition product I tried was the Superfood blend. It is designed to help you get your daily dose of nutrients and even has both fiber and probiotics.

The Form Nutrition Superblend vegan protein powder is designed to redefine the term “protein shake.” It uses both pea protein and brown ride to deliver a complete amino acid profile. It also contains maca, flaxseed, greens, fiber, and fruit powders.

What makes the Form Nutrition Superfood Blend Different?

  • 20g of plant-based protein to support the growth and maintenance of muscle mass
  • 7g of fiber per serving
  • no artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, or added sugar
  • 100% plastic-free, compostable packaging.

My experience with the Form Nutrition Superfood Blend:

The Superfood Blend is available in a variety of flavors, and I tried the chocolate salted caramel. I haven’t had that flavor in a while, so I was excited to try something new.

Form Nutrition Review

Taste: Mixing the Form Nutrition Superfood Blend was interesting. I was expecting a typical brown color with the chocolate flavoring, but it almost looked like a brown with a hint of green. It mixed easily, and I wasn’t left with any grit. The chocolate caramel is not my favorite flavor (I think you can taste the greens), but I know that it is a favorite for many people. That being said, it does not taste bad. In all, it’s easy to mix and doesn’t taste bad, but I would love to try other flavors and see if there is another that I like more.

While it’s certainly not cheap, it’s also not the most expensive protein powder I’ve come across. You can also subscribe and save and save 20%.

Form Nutrition Conclusion:

While Form Nutrition is certainly not cheap, they are high quality, and their protein powders mix well in liquid and taste good. I appreciate they are going the more sustainable route with easily compostable packaging and no use of plastic. It’s a pricier protein powder that you can feel good about. The only real downside is the cost, but the mission’s quality is great. As they always say, you get what you pay for.
