Over the last few months, I’ve been working with Netic Health. Originally I began using it while living in Napa Valley. My IT Bands became tight, and I had no place to turn. I found Netic Health as an easy resource for me to use in the comfort of my own home. Especially because during the time, much of California was still shut down.
When living in New Jersey (and even now looking back at life in NorCal), I was always close enough to drive to meet a PT in person. Now, living in the desert, I have to drive at least 70 miles to get out of the desert to get quality care. Sadly the coyotes or cacti don’t offer it. Even if you aren’t driving far, you can schedule Netic Health around your own busy needs and life. We all have busy lives and finding time to make a doctor’s appointment sometimes becomes the least of our priorities.
Over the summer, when the owners of Netic Health, Mathias and Louis, reached out to me, I was excited to try it.
First, what is Netic Health?
Netic Health is an online physical therapy program. It’s PT for runners, by runners”. Think of Netic Health as the “Small Business of PT”: Netic Health is a new startup trying to revolutionize how runners heal. They show that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars and hours in a PT office to get quality care.
As many people and runners know, booking an appointment and making time for any doctors appointment, especially physical therapy is time-consuming. Plus, it’s hard to find a PT that knows runners or athletes.
The PTs at Netic Health are runners. In fact, on the website, they say their PTs are “running specialists only.” They aren’t going to just tell you to rest when you need to strengthen your weak areas to get better actively.
Most runners can benefit from physical therapy. It doesn’t matter if you are hurt or not. As usual, we tend to only look for a PT when we are hurt. You can learn more about Netic Health here.
Cost:
They are much more affordable than most insurances, and I am lucky to afford to pay out of pocket. If you use the code “HollieS,” you get a free first visit and a free running analysis from a Netic PT.
About Insurance:
Netic is in-network with most national insurance networks, including Blue Cross, Blue Shield, United, Aetna, Cigna.
Why even choose online PT?
Before moving and before the pandemic, I thought telehealth was “silly” and a “waste of time.”A big reason I’ve enjoyed Netic Health is the ability to get PT without driving somewhere. For me to get professional PT help, I would probably have to drive into Los Angeles County. With traffic, that can be 2 hours (or 100 miles) one way.
Honestly, now, I wish everything was telehealth because I’m tired of driving. I like having things on my own schedule.
Another real concern I had with online PT was, is only PT as good as in-person PT? The answer is yes. Not only is it quality care, but the PTs at Netic Health also spend more time with you and I’ve felt noticeable better over the last 6 months.

My experience with Netic Health:
Signing up and booking an appointment was easy. You get a preliminary appointment with the founder and they decide which PT is best for you! How neat is it to talk to a business founder and learn more? They have four different PTs that are all runners and actively running.
My meeting was with Susan. Susan is an incredible athlete and completed ultramarathon events, the Boston Marathon, and even Ironman Kona. Not only is she an athlete herself but also a professional and obviously a knowledgeable and certified PT. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Utah in 2004. Susan knows what it’s like being injured as she is coming off a knee injury herself.
About the Appointment:
Susan gave me a list of available times, and I just chose the best for me. The appointment itself used a program like Zoom. It was straightforward to log into it, and Susan was able to see exactly what she needed to diagnose my problems.
The appointment was roughly an hour long. Unlike many doctors where you are rushed out, we went through several mobility exercises and movements to see how my body responded and my movement pattern. Susan was able to see my weaker areas and how they affected the rest of my body. She immediately noticed my hips were tight. Even though the computer screen!
The next day after my appointment, she gave me a list of exercises and the frequency of doing them.
I began doing them as instructed. After about two weeks, I noticed a big difference in how my body moved. I was somewhat skeptical that I could get quality care and have noticeable results from home, but I did.
