Drink Wholesome Protein Review
Recently I tried Drink Wholesome Protein. It’s an all-natural protein powder made with 100% real ingredients. There are zero protein isolates! It’s made by hand in small batches.
About Drink Wholesome:
Drink Wholesome was founded by teacher and coach Jack. At the time, he was skiing and couldn’t find a protein powder that was made with 100% real foods, so he created his own. I had the pleasure to talk to Jack through email, and he was extremely friendly.
Drink Wholesome has pledged at least ten percent of its profits to the preservation of green spaces. This money will be used to help purchase and conserve undeveloped land for public use, especially in areas where access to such space is limited.
What is Drink Wholesome?
Unlike other protein powders, Drink Wholesome uses 100% real food ingredients instead of protein isolates. What is a protein isolate? It’s a highly processed ingredient stripped of everything but protein. Some include whey or pea protein.
What makes Drink Wholesome Different?
- Made from 100% real ingredients.
- No artificial sweeteners, colors, preservatives, anti-caking or gelling agents, emulsifiers, stabilizers, or thickeners.
- Lack of protein isolate means it doesn’t taste “chalky.”
- Gluten, dairy, and soy-free.
- Easy to digest. Without additives, it’s a lot easier to digest.
- Made by hand.
As I mentioned recently, sustainability is a huge deal to me. By making Drink Wholesome out of natural products, they are better for the environment. Plus, they hope to be 100% organic by 2022.
My Experience with Drink Wholesome:
All of that sounds good, but does it taste good? If a protein powder doesn’t taste good or is chalky, there is a low chance I will actually consume it. Actually, there is pretty much a “no chance.”
All of the flavors mix well. I use my magic bullet and added with milk. I didn’t have any chunks or lumps.
Ingredients: egg whites, coconut, maple sugar, vanilla, and monk fruit
Taste: I actually thought at first the vanilla was flavorless. There aren’t many flavors, but you can tell there is a slight amount of sweetness without being overpowering. It mixed well with milk.
Ingredients: egg whites, coconut, cocoa, coffee, and monk fruit
Taste: Truthfully, I don’t have a lot of mocca anything. It’s not always my favorite flavor, but I always like to give brands the benefit of the doubt. I like how sweet the Drink Wholesome Mocca flavor is. It’s sweet without being overpowering. I was pleasantly surprised.
Ingredients: egg whites, peanuts, coconut, and monk fruit
Taste: The Drink Wholesome Peanut Butter flavor is my favorite. It mixed well and tasted like peanut butter without being too sweet or overpowering. I mixed it with milk, and it was the perfect post-run protein.
Ingredients: egg whites, coconut, cocoa, and monk fruit
Taste: The chocolate is sweetened with monk fruit, so it’s less sweet than the traditional chocolate. If you are more of a fan of dark chocolate, it’s a great option. I am a fan of dark chocolate and enjoyed the flavoring.
For a container of about 14 servings, the cost is $28. As far as quality protein powders go, that isn’t too expensive. You can also subscribe monthly, and it’s $25.20.
Finally, if you are unsure, you can also order samples of 2 for $5. I like the idea that you can try samples without committing to an entire bag.
Drink Wholesome Conclusion:
If you are looking for a high-quality protein powder with minimal ingredients, I suggest Drink Wholesome. It tastes good and is made from all-natural ingredients. It’s rare I don’t have “any issues” or “anything negative” to say about a protein powder (usually if it tastes good, I need to take out a mortgage to pay for a tub) but Drink Wholesome is a great protein powder.
