Smart Snacking with Dolcia Prima Allulose

This post is sponsored by DOLCIA PRIMA® Allulose. The opinions and text are all mine.

I’ve recently tried a few low sugar snacks sweetened with DOLCIA PRIMA® Allulose. I’ve realized there are a few benefits to getting my favorite treat alternatives sweetened with Allulose instead of sugar, and I’m excited to share them with you!

First, what is Allulose?

Allulose is a non-artificial sweetening ingredient that provides the taste & texture of sugar without the calories. It is a rare sugar that can be found in small amounts in raisins & figs. It is available in a granulated form. It looks like sugar but with 70% of sucrose’s sweetness. Allulose naturally exists in very small quantities, but Tate & Lyle has worked hard to make Allulose more widely available.

But is Dolcia Prima Allulose “Good for You”?

I personally hate the phrase “good for you”. Most foods are ok in moderation. As runners, we need to consume more calories than the average person. If you don’t fuel enough, you will get injured or not achieve what you want.

But, as runners and athletes, we also can’t consume a steady diet of cake and cookies. If you feel good, you’ll run “good.” You should have balance and treat yourself but should also aim for a healthy diet.

Here are a Few Facts About Dolcia Prima Allulose:

Tate & Lyle is a global provider of solutions and ingredients for food, beverage and industrial markets, including Allulose. Their Allulose product is named Dolcia Prima.

  • Tastes like sugar
  • 90% fewer calories than sucrose
  • Balanced sweetness and flavor profile
  • Very similar texture and mouthfeel to caloric sugars
  • Extended shelf life
  • Enhanced moisture-binding
  • Good meltdown
  • Demonstrated improved product acceptance and better qualities of flavor, texture and
    appearance in some applications.

What has the FDA Approved with Dolcia Prima Allulose?

Allulose has been approved in frozen desserts like ice cream, cereals, pudding, and salad dressings.

I recently tried SmartSweets made with Dolcia Prima Allulose. I’ve always liked gummy candies, but I was a skeptic at first. I wasn’t sure how I would feel eating Dolcia Prima Allulose instead of sugar because I thought it might taste a little fake sweet, but they proved me wrong and were absolutely delicious!

First, SmartSweets is woman-owned!
• 83% of their staff are women
• 60% of their board is female

I’ve really enjoyed the taste of Smart Sweets. I like that they taste good and I can feel good about snacking on them during the day. The flavor is similar to any sweet snack but without the extra sugar. Most of the SmartSweets Snacks have 90-100 calories, with around 13 grams of fiber and 3 grams of sugar.  Plus, they are plant-based! My body feels fine and The SmartSweets Peach Rings are my favorite.
