Daphne’s Diner (Robbinsville)

Daphne’s Diner (Robbinsville)

A few weeks ago, Cyd from New Jersey isn’t Boring, and I met in Mercer County to go to a diner. To be honest, I had no idea Daphne’s Diner in Robbinsville existed.  Just a quick view of the menu made me realize I needed to go immediately.

Daphne’s Diner Atmosphere: B

Daphne’s Diner is located in a fairly low key building.  It reminds me of a house on the side of the road.  There is nothing too crazy, and nothing stands out.  That could be one reason I missed the diner completely.  I’ve driven by multiple times but never noticed the building.

The inside atmosphere of Daphne’s Diner is a typical small NJ diner.  It’s cute with about ten tables and booths.  When we arrived, we were the only ones in the diner.  I like going to diners with Cyd because they save the diner for us.

Daphne’s Diner Coffee: A

Since we were the only ones in Daphne’s Diner, we received all of the attention.  That meant we also received a fresh pot of coffee. The waitress refilled it more than enough times and gave me whipped cream every single time.  It was the great diner coffee taste, and I have no complaints!

Daphne’s Diner Food: B

Daphne’s Diner has a huge menu and also does a lot of catering.  I decided to order off of their specials menu.  I ordered a roasted beet salad with goat cheese.  It’s more of an upscale restaurant than a restaurant.  You can tell Daphne’s Diner does catering as well.

The salad at Daphne’s Diner was one of the best I’ve had in a while.  The spinach was fresh, and there was a lot of goat cheese and beets. Beets are in season, and I am obsessed with them.  It’s also obvious the salad came from local sources.  I ordered a side of pita bread, which was extremely dense.  It was one of the best diner meals I’ve had in a while.

It’s not surprising they do catering! The food is high quality.

The reason I gave the restaurant a B was there was no mention of dessert.  I was craving dessert, but there was nothing on the menu.  The waitress never mentioned dessert, so we assumed they didn’t have it.  We later found out they have rice pudding as their dessert option.

Daphne’s Diner Price: $18

For my salad and coffee, the price was 18. They don’t accept card, and you must have cash.

Overall thoughts/Would I come back to Daphne’s Diner (Robbinsville)?

I would come back.  The food was fresh and delicious.  The breakfast menu looks delicious, so I’m excited to go back during breakfast.

Questions for you:
Have you been to a restaurant that does not have dessert?
Come to think of it; I’m not sure I’ve even been to a restaurant without dessert.

  1. I love rice pudding, but it’s odd they didn’t have some kind of cake. Even one special per week or something! I love beets, too. My mom and I are obsessed with beets in vinegar.

  2. I love New England coffee! I drink it every day. I also LOVE beets. I like to eat them straight out of the jar and I’ve gone through two jars this week alone.
