Wineocakes

Okay don’t get your panties in a bunch.  After last week’s Guinness Pancakes those who did not like Guinness (weird) asked if there were any alternatives.  Did you ask that at college ragers too?  Of course there are alternatives to beer.  I’ll probably spend the next couple of weeks experimenting with my inner alchi.  (YAY for being 21).

Why not make a winocake (winowaffle?).

To be quite honest, I enjoy wine but I don’t drink a lot of it.  I still would rather have a bottle of beer but if someone is offering wine at a nice get together I usually won’t turn it down.  That is why this week is for all you wine lovers a nice delectable wine pancake.  I’m guessing you might want to make this for a brunch or a nice breakfast with the girls but you never know.

2/3 cup flour

¼ cup dark cocoa powder (I used hershey’s dark cocoa)

1 egg

1 cup red wine

1 tsp baking powder

¼ cup sweetener (I used stevia)

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the glaze:

1/4 cup red wine

1 tablespoon melted butter

1/4 cup sweetener (less if you like bitter…more if you don’t)

1 tsp vanilla extra

Mix and pour over

Here is the thing.  The wine will not fully cook out.  You won’t get tipsy but as always I don’t recommend using this as a 6am breakfast…unless you really want too.  It would be great with the girls for a brunch and I fully plan on it…just next time I actually have friends over ha.

I tried to get the foodie design just perfect.

I almost forgot to tell you, that I had some friends over for a wino pancake breakfast party who quite enjoyed them.  I really enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would, although I like wine (still not as much as Guinness LOL).

Questions for you: Are you a wineo?

  1. i am definitely a wino. only for white wine though– i just can’t get into red wine. i’ve started drinking a glass of wine before bed now because it knocks me out haha. light weight alert!

  2. LOL!! alcoholic pancake series, love it. I also don’t like wine as much as beer….actually I can’t stand red wine at all. I’ll try these with white! Ooh…or maybe sparkling…that’d be interesting, fizzy pancakes…

  3. What a great idea. I don’t drink but this would be great as mini-wino-muffins for a cocktail party. Have little bits of dark chocolate to go with it and your party is all set.

    Two Thumbs Up!!!!!

  4. I like wine (blush the most), but as I said before I’m a shot person. Just take it and GO lol. You’re getting so creative! Must be all the blog reading 😉

  5. You know I love guinness, and red wine. I need to make these and the guinness ones ASAP. You’re going to turn me into an alchi by having these all the times. Thanks. Ha.

  6. Oh man. There are so many delicious flavors of wine that would be probably pair awesome with this. I mean, there’s even chocolate-flavored wine! Lol. Not old enough yet to drink, but super interesting recipe!

Speaking of alcohol as ingredients in recipes, your guinness ones are genius too. I bet they’re similar to beer bread? Love that stuff.

  7. My future mother-in-law (so nuts) would love these! I am not the biggest wine fan, though. I’m all about margaritas haha and flavored beers

  8. Hahaha this is so funny! Why not, right? Totally perfect for a brunch. I love me some wine. I’m not really a big beer person (and by that I mean, not at all. I’m TRYING to be, but I just don’t like it yet…) That said, I love beer bread 😉 haha

  9. These pancakes are a pretty genius idea. Why the heck not add wine to my breakfast? I think this really needs to happen. Maybe not before work, but definitely on a lazy Sunday 🙂

  10. …Beer me! but wine is pretty okay too..i don’t turn it down! 🙂 you never cease to amaze me with these panake creations! I need more friends around so I can have a pancake party..excuse me while I work on that 😀

  11. Hmmmmm wine pancakes….. =D Hubby loves him some red wine but I’m not a huge vino fan. Although I do like a glass of moscato every now and then.
