Arlington Diner (North Arlington)

The Arlington Diner in North Arlington, NJ, has been on my diner “to do” list for a while. In New Jersey, it’s known as one of the best with one of the most iconic lights out there. I’ve wanted to go for years! Wow, time flies that I can say I’ve reviewing NJ diners for “years.”

Arlington Diner (North Arlington)

Anyway, when I was in North Arlington, the time finally worked out and we decided to go.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) Atmosphere: A

The Arlington Diner has one of the best atmospheres of any NJ diner. The exterior has all chrome with a huge: “Arlington Diner” sign. The inside is everything you expect in a diner; there are plenty of booths, tables, a full-length bar and even several jukeboxes at various tables.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) Coffee: A
The coffee at the Arlington Diner was good. The waitress brought out a few refills and it tasted good.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) Food: B
The Arlington Diner menu has everything you picture in a diner. There are all plenty of breakfast, lunch and dinner specials. Plus there are several pages of salads and healthier options too.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) greek platter

I decided to split the Greek Sampler platter with the table and it was something. The greek platter came with olives, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, anchovies, and pita bread. It felt as though the cook just slapped some things together, and added hunks of feta cheese. It was okay, not great and I wouldn’t order it again.

I was craving a salad and decided to order the grilled mushroom salad with salmon. The grilled mushroom salad came with portabella mushrooms, mixed greens, mozzarella, sundried tomatoes. After the Greek Sampler platter, it wasn’t sure what to expect, but the salad was good. It was actually one of the better diner salads I’ve had recently.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) Service: C
The waitress at the Arlington Diner seemed as though she wasn’t having the best day and she was ready to leave. Our food came out relatively fast, but it wasn’t the best diner service I’ve received.

Arlington Diner (North Arlington) Cost: $$
The Arlington Diner is expensive. For the salad, Greek Sampler, and coffee, it was $30. The Greek Sampler alone was $11, which was expensive for the amount of food and quality of food.

Would I Come Back to the Arlington Diner (North Arlington)?

I liked my salad at the Arlington Diner and I thought that component of the meal was decent. Did I think it was one of the best NJ diners? No, but I would come back to give it a second chance.

Happy National Coffee Day

There are very few “foodie” holidays I celebrate but National Coffee Day is one of them!  September 29 th is National Coffee Day and many participating locations are giving out a free cup of coffee.

Some places you might be able to get your favorite coffee for National Coffee Day are: Wawa, Cumberland Farms, Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons, and maybe even your favorite local coffee shop so celebrate National Coffee Day!

It doesn’t matter if you are celebrating National Coffee Day with hot or iced coffee, find your favorite participating shops for more info. Is National Coffee Day better than the first day of fall? Maybe.

National Coffee Day

Why don’t I celebrate most foodie holidays?  Because there are so many, in fact, there is a food “holiday” almost every day…See this master list.  It’s no secret that I enjoy coffee so National Coffee Day is a big deal!

National Coffee Day

Coffee, however, is one that I do.  I drink coffee almost every day.  I like the taste.  I’m also in the minority that drinks decaf afternoon because I want to sleep. Even though every day is “National Coffee Day” to me, having a day makes it more fun.

My top 3 favorite places to get coffee are Wawa, Starbucks and a local place down the road.  Oh look, even at my wedding, we had a coffee bar. So it’s true, every day is National Coffee Day for me.

There isn’t a lot of coffee I don’t like.  My favorite way is to top with whipped cream.  It gives a little bit of sugar, and the bottom is more creamy since the whipped cream eventually melts into the coffee.  So it’s dark and bold at first, then more creamy and “dessert-like” at the end. For National Coffee Day, I’ll probably hit up a few spots including a diner.

Questions for you:

Are You Celebrating National Coffee Day?

How do you like your coffee?

National Coffee Day

There are only a few foodie holidays I like to celebrate or even point out.  Every day is a different food day if you google it.

But seriously: Here is a list of “National Foodie Days” incase you ever wondered.

Anyways National Coffee Day is a “Holiday” I will celebrate proudly.  Most people know I drink a lot of coffee but what they don’t realize is a lot of it is decaf.  I truly enjoy the taste of coffee but honestly don’t need or want that much caffeine every day.

Personally I love the taste of coffee.  Whether it’s decaf, flavored, with lots of cream or minimal…I enjoy coffee a lot! I don’t discriminate.

My current favorite coffee is obviously the seasonal pumpkin spice with whipped cream.

Why the whipped cream?  As you drink the coffee, it gets more creamy (since the whipped cream melts).  It’s more bitter at first and then creamy towards the end.  It’s the perfect combination in my opinion.

Do you drink coffee?  What is your favorite kind?

Hashtag: Coffee

Yesterday was national coffee day,  a day dedicated to coffee.  When people think of LOLZ they associate my blog and I with coffee.  Until August of this year, I posted a photo of my daily coffee.  I “streaked” up to 1000 days of taking a photo and posting it on Instagram.  As with most things in life,  nothing lasts forever and I stopped posting the infamous #coffeeaday at 1000 days. So thank you everyone that wished me “Happy National Coffee Day”…no it’s not my birthday or a day dedicated to me.  No, I didn’t go crazy and drink enough coffee to kill a horse…

I didn’t drink full led coffee everyday (I am known to drink decaf) but I did have some form of coffee everyday.

It made me think about some interesting benefits of coffee, the history of coffee and just everything about coffee.

First, to answer why I drink decaf:

Not that I feel I need to justify it but I like the flavor of coffee and at 8pm, I don’t want a pot of full led coffee with caffeine.  There is a time and place for decaf coffee because not everyone can have full led.  I’m never embarrassed because I truly enjoy the flavor.
