First, a spelling note because the internet loves chaos: it is Qantas, although plenty of people search Quantas Airlines review when they are trying to figure out if the airline is good.
After flying to Australia, racing the Gold Coast Half Marathon, and taking a few flights around the country, I had thoughts. Flying to Australia from the United States is long. My flights to/from LAX were about 14 and 15 hours.
So, is Qantas good? Yes, I would fly Qantas again, especially for domestic Australia travel. It is not perfect, and the biggest thing to know before booking is this: Qantas international rarely has Wi-Fi, especially compared to some other long-haul airlines.
Qantas says Wi-Fi is available on selected flights, with international connectivity outside Australia and New Zealand varying by aircraft, route, and satellite coverage. The Qantas a380 flights do not have WiFi. To be honest, I was shook that any long haul does not have WiFi in 2026.

Booking Qantas was straightforward, which is all I really ask from an airline website. I do not need a website journey. I need to pick a flight, pick a seat, pay money. It was easy to do that.

That said, always compare the total cost. A cheaper airline can quickly become less cheap once you add baggage, seat selection, food, and the emotional toll of a worse schedule.
Qantas International Flight Review
For international flights, Qantas is pretty good. The flights felt organized, the service was solid, and the food was fine for a long-haul airline. I am never boarding a 15-hour flight expecting a restaurant. I am expecting something edible, caffeine at the right time, water when I need it, and no one to make the flight harder than it already is. I didn’t mind LAX to Sydney, because I slept for the majority of the flight. We took off around midnight so it was easy to fall asleep.
The seats were about what I expected for long-haul economy. You are still in economy. No airline is making economy feel like a luxury hotel but it is better than a lot of other airlines.
The main downside is the Wi-Fi. If you are searching does Qantas international have Wi-Fi, the answer is: sometimes, on selected aircraft and routes, but do not count on it for every international flight. Qantas says international flights outside Australia and New Zealand can have varied connectivity, and the airline recommends checking the Qantas app before travel to see if your flight offers Wi-Fi.

Qantas domestic flights were a pleasant surprise. The flights felt easy, the boarding process was fine, and it all went smoothly.
The funniest and most Australian part was the food. Qantas domestic flights often have pie or quiche, and I respect that. I would rather get a warm pie or quiche than a sad bag of pretzels.
Qantas has also listed domestic economy menu items such as Pumpkin, Spinach & Parmesan Quiche and Beef Ragu & Mushroom Pie.
The details people care about: Is the seat fine? Is the flight on time? Can I check a bag? Will I get actual food? On domestic Qantas, the answer was mostly yes.
Qantas Food Review
Qantas food is better on domestic flights than I expected and normal on international flights. If I can eat it, feel okay, then I’m good. I personally always still pack snacks because I am forever hungry.
Domestic Qantas food was the more memorable part. The pie and quiche options give it a different feel than the standard U.S. domestic flight. I am not saying I would book Qantas only for a pie, but I am also not above being influenced by pastry.
Internationally, I would still pack snacks. That is not specific to Qantas. That is just long-haul travel survival. Bring snacks you know sit well, especially if you are flying for a race, hiking trip, or any trip where you do not want airplane food to become your villain origin story.
Qantas Wi-Fi Review
As mentioned, Qantas international rarely has Wi-Fi you can rely on.
Qantas domestic Wi-Fi can be good when available, and Qantas says Wi-Fi is free across Wi-Fi-connected aircraft. The catch is aircraft and route availability. Qantas says Wi-Fi-connected aircraft operate on selected domestic and international routes, and availability can be affected by aircraft changes, satellite coverage, weather, technical issues, and unserviced areas.
For domestic Australia flights, I would be more optimistic. For long-haul international flights, I would treat Wi-Fi as a bonus. A 15-hour flight without Wi-Fi is not the end of the world, but it is much better when you planned for it.
