I was excited to try the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun. The massage gun world is over saturated but I’m always looking for new products to try. Plus, unlike many massage guns, the Air 2 Massage Gun is small and portable making it an easy travel companion. Finally, at well under $100, it’s one the cheaper options out there. But as we know, cheaper does not make it better.

Before reviewing the Air 2 Massage Gun I had a few questions:
- Is the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun good? Does it go deep enough?
- Is the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun worth it? Being so cheap, will it break? Bob and Brad have a great line of products so I figured it was likely durable.
About the brand Bob and Brad:
It feels weird to say about the brand Bob and Brad because it’s just two people with the names (you guessed it) Bob and Brad. Just over ten years ago, two physical therapists decided to create the best collection of “get-fit, stay-healthy, and pain-free information” anyone could find. Now they have over 4 million youtube subscribers and a whole line of products.
About the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun:
The Air 2 Massage Gun is a mini massager designed for deep tissue massage. It is equipped with a brushless motor and offers a 12mm amplitude, which is intended to provide deeper muscle penetration compared to many mini massagers. This device is compact and lightweight, making it suitable for portable use.
I am biased but the problem I’ve had with mini massagers is they don’t go as deep. I don’t want a relaxing massage gun, I want something with deep pressure…otherwise, what is the point?
In terms of design, the Air 2 incorporates a triangular ergonomic shape with a concave surface and curved angles, aimed at ensuring a comfortable and secure grip during use. It comes with five attachments, each made from materials that are promoted as safe and durable, allowing users to target different muscle groups as needed. It also comes with a special attachment to work the spine, I don’t think I’ve seen many (read any?) massage guns like that.
The massage gun features a high-quality battery that supports extended use. It also includes an auto-off timer that automatically shuts off the device after 10 minutes, a feature designed to prevent overheating. For charging, the device is equipped with a Type-C port, which allows for rapid recharging within approximately 180 minutes.
My Experience with the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun:
Right out of the box, it’s fairly simple to figure out. I charged it for a little while and it was ready to be used. Admittedly, I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on, but you need to hold the power button down for a second versus just quickly pressing it. Sounds like user error to me.
Anyway using the Air 2 Massage Gun is delightful. It is powerful and more powerful than many of the larger massage guns I’ve tried. Each of the attachments does what it is supposed too and I haven’t had any issues with them. I’m a big fan of the attachment designed for the spine because it’s hard to find something similar.
It has 3 different pressure settings, which truthfully don’t feel terribly different to me. I almost always have mine on the deepest setting (except for spine, because that really scares me).
Really, I don’t have any complaints or anything that I say: wow, I wish this was better. As far as how deep it goes, it definitely competes with the more expensive brands, and now I’m left to think: why pay more if this Air 2 Massage Gun goes so deep?
Cost: $89
The Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun is well under $100 which feels like it’s almost unheard of for a massage gun. Plus, they are having big sales right now, and at the time of writing (Nov. 2023) it was only $69.
Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun Conclusion:
To be honest, I haven’t had an issue with the Air 2 Massage Gun. It’s more powerful than many larger massage guns (Theragun is more powerful at 3X the cost). But it’s the perfect massage gun to travel with or use.
Who should buy the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun? If you’re someone having pain or are looking for a good quality massage gun. Especially if you are having back pain, because the spine attachment is awesome!
Who should not buy the Bob and Brad Air 2 Massage Gun? If you need the most powerful massage gun, there are other options that are more powerful.
