Henry’s Cafe (Tehachapi)
Recently I was in Tehachapi and decided to get lunch at Henry’s Cafe. I already went to the Villiage Grill, so I decided this would be a fun stop. While none of the diners in Tehachapi have the name diner, if they think, act, feel like a diner…they are a diner.
Henry’s Cafe (Tehachapi) Atmosphere: B
Henry’s Cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor seating is plastic card tables, but it’s always appropriately spaced. Inside Henry’s Cafe, there are plenty of booths, tables, and a bar. Henry’s Cafe was also all dressed up for the Holidays, and I always appreciate a diner that does that.
Henry’s Cafe (Tehachapi) Coffee: X
I didn’t order coffee this time around since it was already 85 degrees (in October!). I could have ordered an iced coffee, but I like hot coffee.
Henry’s Cafe (Tehachapi) Food: A
Henry’s Cafe menu has everything you imagine in a diner. There is an all-day breakfast, including pancakes, eggs, and omelets. Plus, you can even build your own omelet. Lunch options included several types of salad, burgers, and sandwiches. I saw someone with one of their salads, and it looked massive! You can find Henry’s Cafe full menu here.
I was in more of a lunch mood and decided to order the turkey, cranberry, and bacon melt. I haven’t had one of those at a diner before! It came with exactly what it sounded like turkey, cranberry, bacon, and swiss cheese all on sourdough bread. It was a great sandwich, and the bread tasted good. I was thrilled with my decision. The french fries were crispy and not overdone.
Henry’s Cafe (Tehachapi) Service: A
The hostess was friendly, and my food was ready for pickup when I arrived.
For my sandwich, it was $10.95.
Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back?
I liked Henry’s Cafe in Tehachapi, and if I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely be back. Henry’s Cafe takes precautions with COVID, and the food is great, and it’s an inexpensive spot.
