Oualichi Restaurant (St. Maarten)

Oualichi Restaurant (Philipsburg St. Maarten)

The last of my diner experiences from our honeymoon was at the Oualichi Restaurant in St. Maarten. Oualichi Resturant is located right on the boardwalk of St. Maarten.  The restaurant faces the beach, and it’s completely open and airy.  Your choices for seating are to sit in the sun outdoors or in the shade facing the beach. The beach bar restaurant is located on the boardwalk in Philipsburg St. You can nap on the beach or enjoy a nice ice-cold bucket of international beers.  There is a beautiful view of the blue Caribbean ocean that will leave you breathless while you dine.

We stumbled upon the Oualichi Restaurant after we snorkeled and kayaked earlier in the day.  We were both hungry, and the Oualichi team was amicable and welcoming.  We decided it would be a fun place to dine.
Oualichi Restaurant Atmosphere: A
It’s hard not to rank the atmosphere an A.  We were facing the beach, the weather was beautiful, and the staff was amiable.  Out of all of the diners and restaurants I’ve been too, this was one of the best atmospheres and views.
Oualichi Restaurant Coffee: —
For the first time, I’m a very long time I did not order coffee.  It was pretty hot, and I wasn’t in a coffee mood.  I was dehydrated and needed water.
Oualichi Restaurant Food: A
As with many restaurants in the Caribbean,  Oualichi Restaurant features a lot of seafood. Oualichi Restaurant is known for their pizza, salad, and tuna tartare. It also has a Caribbean flair.  I had eaten a fair amount all day but wanted to try the Carribean salad.  I’m so glad I did because it did not disappoint.
Carribean Salad
To say this was one of the best salads I’ve ever had would be an understatement.  The Carribean salad consisted of greens, corn, an entire avocado, pineapple, melon, grapefruit, and a spicy like dressing.  There was nothing that I didn’t like about the dressing. There was nothing I didn’t care for about the salad. I ended up eating the entire thing pretty easily.
Oualichi Restaurant Cost: $$$
The salad and water (they only use bottled water) was 21 dollars.
Overall thoughts/Would I come back to the Oualichi Restaurant (St. Maarten)?
Oualichi Restaurant (St. Maarten) was truly one of my favorite restaurants to date, and I wish I could come back every single day.  Sadly my budget and private jet do not allow that…

Questions for you:
What is the best restaurant atmosphere you have been too?
Have you ever eaten on the beach?

  1. Wow, of course the atmosphere is an A that is awesome! I’m glad the food was just as good.

  2. I never order coffee in a diner because by the time dinner rolls around I NEED water or unsweetened tea. You get to a point of coffee dehydration. SO MANY LIQUIDS. I would have ordered this salad, too. It has my favorite fruit (pineapple) and salad toppings (corn). The only thing missing is blue cheese… which would probably taste gross. I love the outdoor seating! So pretty and perfect.

  3. I have eaten on the board walk down in Florida. The only problems I have with it was it was SO HOT eating was kind of miserable. Ice cream melted, cold foods got warm and hot foods made you more sweaty. The views were great, the temp not so much.

  4. That salad looks delicious! We ate on the boardwalk in St. Maartin but not at this particular restaurant. I remember it was good and the drink I had was delicious too. We always eat off the cruise ship in ports because we like to try the local food and drinks- and we have never been disappointed.

I’ve eaten on the beach many times- one perk of living near the beach :). We don’t go nearly as often as we should, though.

  5. i LOVE eating on the beach/water! Growing up on Martha’s Vineyard, I spent most of my summers eating on the beach, on a boat, in a restaurant overlooking the harbor or ocean… It is my FAVORITE.
