Reebok Floatzig Double Shoe Review

The Reebok FloatZig Double is one of those shoes where the name tells you exactly what it’s for. I am petitioning for all running shoes to do this…name your running shoes for the actual purpose of the shoe. Anyway, the Reebok FloatZig Double goes all-in on big cushion for long runs, daily miles, and that specific kind of training block that includes high mileage and doubles.

You don’t need to be doing doubles to run in the Reebok FloatZig Double, and if you like max-cushioned and protective running shoes, you’ll likely like this one. I think Reebok is actually one of the most underrated brands in the running industry. I’ve been a huge fan of their FloatZig running shoes because a. they are good, and b. they are inexpensive compared to models from similar brands. I digress.

Reebok’s vision for the Reebok FloatZig Double is fairly clear: max cushion, built to feel stable, with a rocker to keep you moving when the miles get heavy.

Reebok Floatzig Double Shoe Review

Before I tried the Reebok FloatZig Double, I had a few questions:

Is the Reebok FloatZig Double good for long runs?

Yes. The Reebok FloatZig Double is built with max cushioning and a wide, stable platform, which makes it a solid option for long runs. The SuperFloat+ midsole is designed to reduce impact over higher mileage, and the rocker geometry helps keep you moving forward when fatigue sets in. It’s especially well suited for runners who prioritize comfort and protection over speed during long efforts.

How does the Reebok FloatZig Double compare to other max-cushion running shoes?

Compared to other max-cushion running shoes, the FloatZig Double leans more toward stability than softness. It does not feel overly squishy or unstable underfoot. The wider base and StableStack construction give it a more controlled ride than some softer max-cushion models, making it a good choice for runners who want protection.

Is the Reebok FloatZig Double good for daily training?

The Reebok FloatZig Double works well as a daily trainer if your runs are mostly easy to moderate effort. It is not a lightweight or fast shoe, but it holds up well for consistent mileage. Runners who do a lot of easy runs, recovery runs, or steady aerobic miles will likely get the most use out of it.

Is the Reebok FloatZig Double a fast running shoe?

No. The FloatZig Double is not designed for speed workouts, racing, or fast-paced training. With its higher weight and max-cushion build, it feels best at easy paces. If your priority is tempo runs or interval work, this shoe will likely feel too bulky.

Who should buy the Reebok FloatZig Double?

The Reebok FloatZig Double is a good fit for runners who want a cushioned, stable shoe for long runs and daily mileage. You don’t need to be doing doubles, but if you are running a lot of easy runs, you may like it. It works especially well for runners who spend a lot of time on pavement and want extra protection for their legs. Runners who prefer lightweight shoes or a more minimal feel should look elsewhere.

Now, let’s get into an honest Reebok FloatZig Double shoe review.

Reebok FloatZig Double Upper and Fit

When you see the Floatzig Double, you think whew this is a lot of shoe. Reebok uses an engineered mesh upper that is breathable and boring. That’s exactly what you want in a daily trainer, especially a high-mileage double shoe. I don’t know about you, but short doubles take the most mental strength for me to get out the door, so I need a shoe that is comfortable. That’s really it, and the Reebok FloatZig Double is that. The best daily trainer uppers are boring and do the job and that’s what is happening here.

Fit-wise, the Reebok FloatZig Double is actually on the wider side. While it’s not a wide, it is more accommodating than many other brands, and my feet fit comfortably into the shoe with no major issues. I was able to take them right out of the box and run, which is always a win.

In running shoes, I wear between a women’s size 10–11 wide, and the women’s size 10.5 fits the best. Like I said, no major hot spots, and my feet were comfortable from run one.

Reebok FloatZig Double Ride

The midsole is where the magic happens, and the Reebok FloatZig Double keeps your body protected. Reebok claims their Superfloat+ Technology offers maximum cushioning and the dual density midsole adds plush cushioning and added stability. Reebok calls out a forefoot rocker to add gentle propulsion. A rocker in a long-run shoe can either feel like a nudge forward or like you’re being pushed through your stride to run fast, which is what the majority of super shoes do. As Reebok claims, this one feels like a gentle push to help you keep moving, but it also keeps the shoe feeling smooth. Without it, especially due to the weight, I think the Reebok FloatZig Double would feel clunky and heavy.

The midsole is SuperFloat+ with a dual-density approach, tuned for cushion plus stability. It’s a lot softer than I anticipated, and my body has been thankful for that.

Also, this shoe is not light. Men’s weight is listed at 11.4 oz. It’s a tank of a shoe, but when you are running, it doesn’t feel like an 11-ouncer. I think that’s partially because of the forefoot rocker helping you move forward. Note: it doesn’t feel lightweight either, and I would not describe it as such.

Outsole

Reebok has always been good with durability, and the Reebok FloatZig Double is no different. It uses a full-length rubber outsole, which makes for a very durable running shoe. But it also contributes to the weight. It’s the classic tradeoff. I anticipate it lasting over 400 miles.

I’ve used the Reebok FloatZig Double in inclement weather and on some sandy trails with no issues. I wouldn’t use it as my trail running shoe, but it can handle some light trails if your running takes you there.

Where the Reebok FloatZig Double Fits in a Rotation

This is not your speed shoe. It is your long-run, daily run, recovery run, and, as the shoe mentions, double (easy) run shoe. I’ve taken it out for about 50 miles, and I’ve been very happy. My body doesn’t feel beat up, and I’ve felt great when using it. When I finish the run, it almost feels like I haven’t run at all, which is exactly what you want in these types of shoes.

Reebok FloatZig Double Conclusion

The Reebok FloatZig Double is a max-cushion road shoe that’s designed to fully protect your body. If you want a long-run shoe that leans protective and steady, the FloatZig Double is a great option. It’s quickly become one of my more favorite easy-run shoes, especially as I enter a bit of a downtime in running.
