Here’s how The Feed recommends using this drink mix, and how I’ve found it works in practice:

Before training: I’ll use 1 scoop in ~16 oz of water about 30 minutes before a hard session. It gives just enough of a carbohydrate boost without making me feel full or overly wired.

During training: This is where the mix really shines. I usually go with 2 scoops in 20–24 oz for anything over 75 minutes. It sits well, doesn’t taste like much (in a good way), and keeps energy levels steady.

After training: If I haven’t eaten immediately, I’ll sip on 1 scoop in water post-run to help kickstart recovery and refill glycogen stores.

What I Like

Neutral Flavor
If you’re burned out on overly sweet or acidic sports drinks, the unflavored version is a welcome change. It won’t clash with gels, bars, or chews and plays nice with hydration mixes like LMNT or Nuun.

What I Don’t Love

Not Mixing Well
I have to use a blender to mix it together, otherwise it gets clumpy. So yes, The Feed High Carb Drink Mix does not mix well. Honestly, it one has one negative but this is huge and makes it hard to use.

What I’m Meh About

Customizable Dosing
It’s not really a high-carb mix, but if you want a higher-carb option, you just add more scoops. I could do this with any fueling. I don’t think it should be marketed as high-carb when it’s a regular carb mix…they’re just advertising to add more.

Cost
At just $20 a bag, The Feed High Carb Drink Mix is the cheapest option out there, and it stands out because of that. While it doesn’t mix well…especially when adding more mix…if you have a blender, you shouldn’t need to worry about that.
