Athletic Brewing Review (2024 Update)

Athletic Brewing Review (2024 Update)

I am a big fan of Athletic Brewing, and I think they make excellent non-alcoholic beer (and other drinks). I first tried them in 2022, and so much has changed since then. They have really grown! Now in 2024, they offer several flavors and different options.

I’m no stranger to the company and I’ve already wrote a couple reviews. If you want to see my review from a couple years ago, it features even more flavors. Plus, I also have a stout review.

Athletic Brewing Review (2024 Update)

Before trying more flavors of Athletic Brewing, I had a few questions:

  1. Why is Athletic Brewing so expensive? They really aren’t. When you compare them to water, sure, they seem pricey, but when compared to alcohol and similar drinks, they’re usually cheaper.
  2. What is the point of Athletic Brewing? They are dedicated to crafting non-alcoholic beer you can enjoy without worrying about a hangover. Sometimes you just don’t want to drink, and that’s okay.
  3. What percentage of alcohol is in Athletic Brewing? Athletic beers are non-alcoholic but not zero-alcohol. Their brewing process results in less than 0.5% alcohol, which is actually the same as kombucha. But it’s always important to keep that in mind.
  4. Is Athletic Brewing a good sports drink? It can be. It hydrates just like water and contains carbohydrates, which we need after a hard workout.

About Athletic Brewing Company:

Athletic Brewing Company is dedicated to making non-alcoholic beer that can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere, with no worries and no hangovers. Unlike other non-alcoholic beers, Athletic Brewing’s offerings are made with a proprietary process that preserves full flavor, earning them several awards.

The Beginning of Athletic Brewing Company:

Athletic Brewing Company started with an idea from its founders, Bill and John. They began test-brewing in Stratford, CT, crafting over 100 batches on homebrew equipment to perfect their process and flavors. Once satisfied, they built an entire brewery around their method. The company has since relocated to Milford, CT, where they have built what is believed to be the world’s largest dedicated non-alcoholic brewery. Additionally, they have expanded to San Diego, allowing them to provide the finest and freshest non-alcoholic beers to customers on both coasts, available in stores and for delivery.

About the Non-Alcoholic Brews:

They produce a wide range of styles throughout the year, ensuring that anyone seeking a non-alcoholic option can enjoy the best in craft brewing. Their essential brews, such as Run Wild, Upside Dawn, Free Wave, Cerveza Atletica, and Athletic Lite, are available year-round in stores. They also regularly release experimental batches, limited-edition styles, and collaborative brews with their favorite brands on their website.

How is Athletic Brewing Made?

It’s made similarly to standard brewing but with 12 different updates. They purposefully stayed away from traditional non-alcoholic brewing methods. According to their website, their method is an innovative, proprietary way of brewing beer without alcohol. This proprietary method makes the flavors unique and actually taste good.

My Experience with Athletic Brewing:

In the past, I have tried several different flavors. If you want to see my review from a couple years ago, it features even more flavors. Plus, I also have a stout review.  Here are some I’ve tried recently.

  • Layback Salt & Lime: I was initially unsure how I would feel about this, but I really appreciate the flavor.
  • Blackberry Berliner Weisse Style: This was definitely my favorite, as I’m a huge blackberry fan. If you are looking for something mildly fruity but fun, this is the drink of the summer.
  • Tropical Sour: This is likely my favorite Athletic Brewing option of the bunch. It actually has a hint of mango, which is fun.
  • Atlética: A medium-bodied, lightly toasted brew with smooth malty sweetness, floral notes, and easy drinkability. I wasn’t sure how I would like this one, but it ended up being one of my favorites, and I ordered more.

Cost: $

At just $14.99 for a six-pack, it’s definitely not the most expensive non-alcoholic beer (or even alcoholic beer). The problem you may have (and I did in the desert) is finding them in stores. You can always order online.
