I wanted to try the LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water Can but found it harder to find them in person. Finally, while in a bike shop in Santa Cruz, I saw them and purchased a few. I’m a fan of LMNT and have used their powders on and off in the desert. If you are looking for the saltiest hydration product on the market, chances are it’s LMNT. I couldn’t find any LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water reviews online, so before trying the Sparkling Electrolyte Water, I did have a few questions:
- Do the LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Waters taste good? The answer is yes. I think they are easy to drink and taste good. They don’t taste as salty as their powders, even though each can has 43% of your daily salt intake.
- Are the LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Waters worth it? This is tricky. I think they are a fun treat/splurge, but I don’t know if they are worth buying every day because they are so expensive.

What is LMNT?
It’s tough to even find out what LMNT stands for. Playing around on the website, I found it buried, and it means Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapy. Will anyone care what it stands for? Probably not, but I would think there would be an about page with information about the brand LMNT.
Pronounced, “element,” LMNT is an electrolyte mix with all the electrolytes you need and none of the garbage you don’t. There isn’t any extra sugar either, so it’s easy to drink during the day too.
What doesn’t LMNT have?
- No Sugar
- No Gluten
- No Fillers
- No Artificial Ingredients
What Makes LMNT Different?
Most popular electrolyte drinks have low amounts of electrolytes. LMNT Recharge gives you more electrolytes in the ideal ratio. You’ll notice LMNT tastes very salty compared to other brands.
- 1000 mg Sodium
- 200 mg Potassium
- 60 mg Magnesium
How did the company LMNT begin?
The founder, Robb, wanted to get to the next level of Jiu-jitsu. While he was tinkering with nutrition, he felt his performance was holding him back, and he needed something. It turns out he needed more salt and more electrolytes. He was consuming salt, but it turns out he was consuming much less than he anticipated.
He began tinkering with different ratios, and once he perfected his electrolytes, the results were clear. He had more energy during jiu-jitsu, slept better, and felt his brain functioning on new levels. At the time, he found most options were high in sugar but lacking in actual electrolytes. That forced him to make his own mixes and start LMNT. The result was an electrolyte drink with everything you need and nothing you don’t.

My Experience with the LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water:
I bought a few cans at the local bike store. We were about 5 hours north of our house, and I drank some of them on the way home (post Wharf to Wharf). I thought they both tasted good and honestly a lot less salty than their drink mixes.
Black Cherry Lime: This was the first flavor I tried because I like anything cherry. It wasn’t too potent and tasted good. I thought the cherry hint was just enough. The flavor isn’t as strong as, say, a soda, but it’s stronger than just flavored water. It’s like a mild fizzy cherry juice.
Watermelon Salt: Second up is the watermelon salt. I found this flavor to be sweet, but not in a watermelon way. I can’t really put my finger on what fruit it tasted like, but it did taste good. I actually didn’t think I would like it as much as I did.
I didn’t try the grapefruit or citrus because, while those flavors are probably fine, I tend to like the other two flavors more. Honestly, these LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Waters are expensive, and I wasn’t sure I would like them at all so why buy a ton?
Cost:
You can get LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water 8-packs for $27.99 on Amazon, which equates to $3.50 per can. That’s not too bad, so I would suggest you buy in bulk.
LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water Conclusion:
Overall, LMNT Sparkling Electrolyte Water is a tasty, convenient way to stay hydrated and replenish electrolytes. While pricey, it offers a well-balanced ratio of essential minerals without unnecessary additives.
