BUBS Collagen Protein Powder Review

About the brand BUBS:

Is the brand called “Bubs” or “BUBS? It’s BUBS!

BUBS Naturals was founded in 2017. It’s named after Glen ‘BUB’ Doherty, who was heroically killed in Benghazi, Libya in 2012. The BUBS ethos centers around the vibrant and adventure-seeking life Glen lived. It is made for everyone including your weekend warrior, professional athletes, top performers, rabble-rousers, and Navy SEALs.  BUBS has everything from collagen to MCT Oil backed by scientific research.

About Collagen:

If you’re new to collagen, it’s an essential protein in the human body. Naturally with age, the body slows in producing collagen. Supplementing with it promotes health and healing. Studies have shown collagen is critical to the support of joint health, promotes increased elasticity, and supports healthy hair and nails. On a personal level, I notice a difference in my hair and nails when I supplement with collagen.

My Experience with BUBS Collagen Protein Powder:

I was excited to try BUBS Collagen Protein Powder. I’m a huge fan of collagen and it’s one of the few supplements I have a noticeable different in my skin, hair, and nails. I take it every day and am always interested in trying new brands. It’s recommended to mix 2 scoops or packets with any of your favorite beverages including tea, coffee, orange juice, or water. I chose milk because that’s typically what I mix mine with after a run. I’ve also chosen water and coffee. Even with water, it does mix into an opaque color…not that’s that is a big deal as I don’t even know if I’ve mixed collagen that mixes into a clear drink.

With just 70 calories per scoop, it has 18 grams of protein. Since it’s recommended to use 2 scoops, you get 36 grams of protein for about 140 calories. For 140 calories you get all 9 animo acids and a heavy dose of protein. Most collagen products don’t have all nine essential proteins and most protein powders have around 20-25 grams of protein for about 100 calories. I alternate between one and two scoops depending on my mood and workout. Usually if I add two spoons, I add more liquid so it doesn’t feel too heavy.

I like that BUBS has all amino acids, which can be used as a solid post recovery protein after a run or workout. Having something, *anything* directly after a run is something I’ve actively been working on. Mixing BUBS with water is something easy that sits in the stomach well. It’s easy to drink on the go while heading into work.

Does BUBS Collagen Protein Powder mix well? Yes. It easily mixes into each beverage I’ve tried without tasting or feeling too gritty.

Is BUBS Collagen Protein Powder really flavor-free? I actually think it’s a little sweet and I noticed any beverage I mixed it in became slightly sweeter. It’s not a problem for me but it’s not completely flavor free as suggested.

I really like the BUBS Collagen Protein Powder and Notice a difference in my skin, hair and nails when I use it. It makes whatever you are drinking or eating more sweet, especially if you add two scoops. I don’t think it’s entirely flavorless as advertised.

Cost: $

You can purchase 28 servings for $43. It’s expensive but about in line with other similar products. What sets it apart is that it has all nine amino acids that most college products do now.

BUBS Collagen Protein Powder Conclusion:

I am a fan of BUBS Collagen Protein Powder. It’s definitely on the sweeter side but I do like it and I’ll continue to use it. Unlike many college sources, I appreciate that BUBS has all nine amino acids. I don’t really have any complaints so if you’re looking for a college product to try, BUBS Collagen Protein Powder is a great option.

  1. I need to look more into collegen. As I age, I notice more after running pain in my right knee area. This usually dissipates within 4 hours, but wondering if a collegen supplement would help with that.
