I was excited to try the SiS Hydro Tablets. We know by now, staying hydrated not just with water but electrolytes is essential for athletic performance. The Science in Sport Hydro Tablets are deigned to keep you hydrated. Plus the Cola have caffeine. When I first tried them, I was surprised at how flavorful the Hydro Tablets are. Sometimes these tablets feel too watered down and not really my style.
I haven’t done a ton of reviews about SiS but the SiS Beta Energy Fuel Chews are good for long runs, hikes, or rides.
About the Brand Science in Sport:
For starters, what is SiS? SiS stands for Science in Sport.
Science in Sport is actually the world’s leading performance nutrition brand. They combine world-class knowledge and scientific formulations to provide optimal performance solutions for athletes. As they say on their website, “if you don’t obsess, you don’t progress.” Something I don’t necessarily agree with, but anyway.
About the SiS Hydro Tablets:
The Science in Sport Hydro Tablets are designed on days you need hydration but don’t necessarily need the calories either. These effervescent tablets dissolve easily in water like an alaseltzer. Essential for replacing electrolytes lost through sweat, such as sodium, these tablets ensure optimal fluid absorption and retention, enhancing your performance and endurance.
The SiS Hydro Tablets are Informed Sport Certified, guaranteeing that even the most elite athletes can use these without worry. They were initially developed for the British Sailing team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, these tablets are formulated with a precise concentration of sodium (30 mmol/L) that is scientifically proven to facilitate superior hydration compared to water alone.
What makes the SiS Hydro Tablets different?
- Vegan
- Gluten Free
- Nut Free
- Contains 345 mg of sodium
My Experience with the SiS Hydro Tablets
I don’t use a ton of caffeine these days so I was excited to try the Science in Sport Hydro Tablets Cola. Why cola? I don’t know it seemed like a fun flavor. I tried it in the morning before my run. It resolved easily into water and I didn’t have any issues with that. It also actually tastes good. I think Cola can be a hard flavor to master and the SiS Hydro Tablets Cola tastes fairly close to cola. It’s also a bit stronger of a flavor than many other low calorie options.
You don’t have to worry about it tasting watered down. Finally, and maybe most importantly, I did find I was more hydrated than water alone. I will occasionally use it on short runs when I want some hydration as well.
Price:
At $12 for 20, it’s slightly cheaper than competitors such as Nuun (Nuun would be about $15 for 20 tablets).
Which is better: Nuun or SiS Hydro Tablets?
How does the SiS Hydro Tablets compare to Nuun? There aren’t a lot of products that are similar and made for athletes. Both do have about the same effect as a low calorie, electrolyte option. The Science in Sport Hydro Tablets have 7 calories, whereas the Nuun tablets have 5 and SIS is slightly cheaper. Really they are about the same.
SiS Hydro Tablets Conclusion
The Science in Sport Hydro Tablets offers hydration and electrolytes for those trying to get that. Now keep in mind, it is not designed as a calorie product and you do need gels or fuel for longer runs.
Who should try SiS Hydro Tablets? If you are looking for electrolytes before, during or after your runs.
Who should not try SiS Hydro Tablets? Those who are looking for actual fuel for runs, this is not going to be the right option.

How do you think SIS Hydro compares to DripDrop ORS?
I think it’s hard to compare since there is caffeine in the some of the SIS Hydros, plus it’s fizzy. On really hot days, I think the Drip Drop ORS is better but for daily drinking to stay hydrated, SIS Hydro is a good option.
