In the desert, I’ve needed water almost every run. Sometimes I don’t feel like bringing an entire hydration pack, so I’ve found the Smartshake Run Bottle to be a great option. Before using the Smartshake Run Bottle, I hadn’t really had a single handheld water bottle that I didn’t hate.
About the Company Smartshake:
Smartshake was founded in 2008 in Sweeden by Mikael Bergström. One day while heading to work, he spilled his entire breakfast shake in his car. His spill inspired him to make a new breed of leak-proof shakers. As time went on, he added attachable storage compartments to end the messy business of mixing your drinks. Ultimately, it led to the variety of Smartshake products. As someone who has spilled things almost everywhere, this inspires me!
So what makes the Smartshake Run Bottle Good?
- First, a water bottle with automatic water flow. You can use the valve to hydrate quickly and safely.
- Smartshake Run Bottle has no sloshing or noise. Yes, it’s really true; I’ve run over 100 miles with no annoyance.
- There is an adjustable strap for easy and stress-free grip.
- Leak-Proof
- Lightweight and doesn’t put stress on hands
TheRunBottle’s automatic water flow makes it easy to get water or liquid out safely. The contents are kept under pressure, so there is no movement of the water. I was fairly skeptical of these claims. I imagined trying to drink the liquid and it exploding out like a water fountain.
My Experience with Smartshake Run Bottle:
I was skeptical to use a handheld water bottle. My experience with them hasn’t been great, and they honestly get annoying. Who really wants to hear the slosh, slosh, slosh while running. It always feels like you need to drink all of the water at once to avoid it.
The Smartshake Run Bottle is fairly easy to load once you understand the process. Unlike many water bottles, it streams water to you. This means you aren’t pressing down on the water bottle to get water. It makes it a lot easier.
On the negative side, it does make it harder to refill during a run. You’ll have to open the water bottle up and get water into the soft flask. This will take time. I love the idea of the Smartshake Run Bottle, and I think it’s amazing if you need about 10 oz of water. For me, it’s a great 1 hour run water bottle, and I would be likely to race a half marathon in the desert heat with it. You can refill it, but you’ll be stopping to unhinge the straps and put the liquid in.
Running with Smartshake Run Bottle feels natural. It doesn’t feel cumbersome to run with water. I don’t feel annoyed, and honestly, it’s the most comfortable water bottle I’ve run with.
Price: $
For the Smartshake Run Bottle, it’s only $22.99, which is a great deal. It’s one of the cheaper handheld water bottles and, in my opinion, one of the best I’ve tried.
Smartshake Run Bottle Conclusion:
In my experience, the Smartshake Run Bottle is probably the best handheld water bottle I’ve tried. It’s comfortable to run. It’s not annoying, it’s easy to drink from, and it doesn’t slosh around. The only downside is that it does take a few minutes to fill up, so it wouldn’t be the fastest water bottle to race with. Other than that, it’s by far my favorite water bottle. I’m glad I decided to try it because I had kind of given up hope on non annoying handhelds.
