It’s been a while since I’ve done a traditional “Thinking Out Loud” style post.
With the start of summer, I thought I would include some of my favorite things and thoughts. These are all products I’ve been using frequently and all things I like. I’m not being paid to promote anything although if there is a season 5, I would love to be on Orange is the New Black.
So what am I loving?
Cardio:
Lately, I’ve loved the pool. I can probably guarantee, once I’m running again I won’t go too often but right now it’s been okay and kept my cardio up.
Entertainment:
Orange is the New Black: Last Tuesday, Lindsey interviewed me for her Podcast: “Can I have Another”? She mentioned I should get into the Netflix show: Orange is the New Black. Before last week, I had heard of the show before but hadn’t seen an episode…then I watched one episode last Tuesday. Followed by season 1, season 2 and season 3. Now I’m just starting season 4 so you can see how that went. Being sick and unable to run has its advantages (I guess).
Podcasts: Obviously I like Can I have Another by Lindsey. She’s interviewed a bunch of interesting and fun people. I like listening while getting ready for work on Friday mornings. Even if you aren’t a runner, you’ll enjoy the conversation. I feel like I’m just hanging out (or evesdropping) on someone’s conversation.
Food:
I’ve basically been eating anything with Calcium and Vitamin D: As I mentioned earlier this week, both my Calcium and Vitamin D levels came back in the normal range. That being said, I’m still attempting to get as much as possible without overdosing or getting a kidney stone. Luckily for smoothies, milk and cheese.
Sunwarrior sent me a few samples of their latest meal replacement shake powders to try. While I’m not running, 160 calories is a nice snack. The new Illumin8 mix has a blend of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. It’s not a full meal, but it’s a good pick me up in the afternoon. I’ve been blending them with ice, milk, cocoa powder and sweetener. For one of them, I added leftover beets which surprisingly tasted great and made me feel healthier.
After trying the samples they sent, I think I’m going to go purchase more. I like the taste, and extra protein is not a bad thing for me right now.
Workout Related:
I’m doing all of my walking around in the Asics Quantum 360. I nicknamed the shoe, the tank because there is so much support and cushion. I ran in it for a while but because it’s the most cushioned shoe I’ve ever owned in the forefront, it got the promotion of moving from my running shoe to my only shoe.
This weekend I plan to run in the newest Asics Cumulus. I love my Saucony shoes, but I need a shoe with more cushion in the forefront right now. Who knows, the newest Hoka Clifton 3s are wider and actually fit my feet..so they might make a cameo on LOLZ blog.
So that’s what I’ve been up to and enjoying the last few days.
Questions for you:
What have you been enjoying lately?
What is your favorite recipe?
I haven’t watched the new OITNB but I LOVED the past seasons – I can’t wait to binge them!
I haven’t started the latest season of OITNB yet but I’m planning to! Also, I’m curious about the Illumin8 protein! Sounds good!
We are still on season 3 of OITNB but Clay wants to watch it a LOT lately so we’ll probably start 4 soon. It is a very addictive show but some of the episodes are so sad. We have a tradition of watching it together and just one episode at a time because we don’t want to binge on it ;).
I’m glad things are going well in your life! When I was hurt 2 years ago with a stress reaction I just wore running shoes all the time too. I’ve always heard Asics had a lot of cushioning so hopefully a shoe change will help.
OMG OITNB – best show ever!!! So glad you are now enjoying it. I’m also loving that you’re doing pool workouts. It’s really too bad we don’t live closer because I see our day like this: coffee, pool, diner, OITNB binge. Perfection.
Those trainers look great. I tried running and hurt my knee, but I’m determined to get back out there. I’ve not seen OITNB yet!
I’ve been enjoying instagram waaaay too much. And need to stop to stay employed 🙂
Ooooh, that shoe is so pretty. And I also nickname my shoes in my training log to distinguish them! I usually name them after fruits! 🙂
OITNB is on my “to watch” list. I just started Downtown Abbey so it shows how behind I am in pop culture. Running makes me a Philistine.
i’ve never been into swimming but its nice you have something to get your cardio in while you are on a running break! i cant wait to hear about the clifton 3’s! i had the clifton 2’s but they were too narrow and i had to switch out of them which was sad because i really did like them.
OITNB is so good, and so addicting. I think season 4 is better than season 3.
Ah I’ve been watching OITNB all week! Not super uplifting before bed, but engrossing for sure.

Glad you are enjoying swimming. Did you know Adrienne Warren, who is a WBHS alum is on an episode of OITNB? I think it was season 2. I haven’t gotten into it, but Michael loves it.
I think I’m still only halfway through season 1 of OTINB, and I still need to work on catching up on GoT as well.
I’ve been loving my Brooks shoes lately, but I’ve always been a fan of Asics – I may need to check those out.
I heard so much about OITNB. I really need to check it out.
I still haven’t gotten into OITNW, but that’s mostly because I don’t have Netflix and I suck at TV 😆 It looks like it’d be a good show though, and it must be with how many people love it.
we love summer! we are loving our new little one and adjusting to 3 kids instead of 2. At the moment we are on the look out for easy kid entertainment for summer because theres not a ton you can do with a newborn at this point haha.
Good to see such wonderful motivation for staying fit over the summer. I hope your enthusiasm is totally contagious… because right now I want to lay on the bed with some sangria!
Can’t believe how time flies! Summer has already started. I’m looking forward to Independence day weekend for long weekend getaway!
Is that an outdoor pool? If yes, then I am jealous. 🙂
Oooh, wider Hoka’s?? Maybe I can finally try them 🙂 Good luck with the run this weekend, fingers crossed for no pain!
Yay for swimming! I have yet to get in a pool this summer. I need to do that ASAP! I’ve been loving Podcasts lately, so I’ll have to check out I’ll Have Another!
I’m actually watching episode 1 of season 4 for Orange is the Black as I type this. Such a fantastic show! I’ve never heard of Illumin8, but they sound delish…I will check them out!
Let me know how you like the end of the season!
