I was excited to try the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank. Living in the Mojave Desert, it’s been hot and I’ve needed running gear with the extra room to carry the essentials like my phone, hydration, and fuel. One pocket is no longer enough when I am heading onto trails with water, gels, my phone, and a layer I may need twenty minutes later. The new Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank takes storage much further by combining an unpadded integrated bra with five pockets and room for up to 900 mL of water.

What Is the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank?
Raide Research is based in Carbondale, Colorado, and was founded by Kyle Siegel, whose background includes mechanical engineering at SpaceX and performance outerwear at The North Face. The TrailTech line focuses on carrying gear on the body without automatically reaching for a backpack or vest.
That approach is obvious in the Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank. Two layers of stretch fabric create support for both the body and stored gear, while laser perforations across the chest add airflow. Raide lists enough capacity for 900 mL of water, a phone, a rain shell, and nutrition.
This separates it from most pocketed running crops. I have tried apparel that can hold a phone or several gels, including pieces in my Bandit Running clothing review and rabbit Cadence Collection review. Raide pushes the same idea closer to replacing a small hydration vest.
Storage and Hydration
The Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank has five pockets, including a rear passthrough pocket with an upper shelf area. The upper compartment is designed to keep a shell or another light item separated from the lower hydration storage, making it easier to reach a flask without pulling everything else out with it.
Raide says the tank can hold up to 900 mL of water, which is HUGE for a running top. That could cover many shorter and mid-distance trail runs, especially on routes with refill access. In the Mojave Desert, I can go through 900 mL quickly, and longer runs in serious heat still push me toward more capacity.
When using the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank in this way, I’ve had no issues. I’ve been able to get hydration in and it doesn’t bounce. Any movement is going to be annoying and basically a deal breaker, so I’m glad you don’t deal with that.
Integrated Bra and Fit
Ok, this is the big one…is the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank a good bra? Even if it does all of the things and holds all of the stuff, if the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank isn’t a good bra, I’m not wearing it. The TrailTech Cargo Tank includes an unpadded integrated bra, removing the need for a separate sports bra underneath. That means, yes the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank has no removable pads.
I’ve found the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank to be incredibly compressive. When I first got it on, I was like wow I’m going to have a tough time getting this off when I’m sweaty post run. It doesn’t move around and even when you put a ton of stuff in there, it’s not sagging. Even if I don’t need a lot, I like wearing it because it’s just a good bra. It’s actually become one of my favorite bras period. Dare I say, it’s one of the best women’s crop tops for running.
Fabric and Ventilation
The tank weighs 130 grams in a women’s small and uses 315 gsm fabric made from 80% nylon and 20% elastane. It is more structured than an ultralight race singlet because the fabric has to support hydration and cargo rather than hang loosely against the body. As mentioned above, you should expect this to fit close to the skin.
Laser-cut ventilation across the upper chest is intended to help airflow. A double-layer storage top may run warmer than a thin singlet, although the better comparison is the full setup because a sports bra, tank, and hydration vest add more material across the torso and back.
Raide TrailTech Cargo Tank vs. a Hydration Vest
Can the Raide TrailTech Cargo Tank replace a hydration vest? For some runs, yes, but it is not designed to cover every trail outing.
I encourage you to look at Raide’s TrailTech System, which spreads storage among tops, shorts, belts, and several flask sizes. You don’t need to stuff everything into your sports bra (although you for sure could). The Cargo Tank is great on runs where you need water, fuel, a phone, and one light layer.
A hydration vest remains the better choice for long unsupported trail days, large temperature swings, mandatory gear lists, or heavy water requirements. Am I running 50ks on the trails? No, so the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank is a good option for everything I’m doing.
Fuel Storage
Raide says the tank can carry up to six gels along with hydration and other gear. That gives many runners enough nutrition storage for a long run or race, depending on their fueling plan. I’ve used other brand’s that claim similar results, but their sports bra design and the gel placement means I’m chafing when I carry that many. I’ve never chafed with the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank, which says a lot.
I prefer having nutrition somewhere I can reach without taking off a vest or digging through a zippered compartment. Price
The Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank costs $129, putting it at the premium end of running apparel. The comparison changes somewhat if the tank can replace both a top and a small hydration vest in your regular trail setup.
Raide’s Women’s TrailTech Short costs $169 and adds another five pockets plus a 360 mL soft flask. A full TrailTech setup gets expensive. Is it worth it? I think so. The Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank even has a 3 year (yes 3 year!! guarentee).

- You dislike hydration vests, regularly carry more than their shorts can handle, or want hydration and nutrition close to the body
- You like longline bras or pocketed crops

I like where Raide is taking women’s trail apparel because runners should have more choices between cramming everything into shorts and wearing a full vest. The $129 price is high but IMO, worth it and the Raide Women’s TrailTech Cargo Tank remains one of my favorite pieces of running apparel in 2026.
