PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix Review

Recently I tried PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix. Since moving to the desert six months ago, I have looked for new hydration products to try.  With the dry climate and elevation, it’s so easy to get dehydrated out here. I honestly didn’t realize there were so many different brands!

Before seeing them online, I had never heard of PNG, so I had no idea what to expect. Made for any sport, PNG claims to be one of the most balanced electrolyte mixes out there. I figured it would be fine as long as I didn’t first use it in the middle of a workout or race. On their website, you can see swimmers, runners, hikers, bikers, and even surfers. You see many hydration products tailored to a specific sport, so it’s fun to see all different types of athletes with PNG. Before the photo, I hadn’t thought about how a surfer might need and use electrolytes.

My Experience with PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix:

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix. With only 20 calories, I usually prefer something with more calories during extreme conditions.

I tried all three flavors. Right off the bat, the mixes are sweeter than many other electrolyte mixes. I prefer that and would prefer something sweeter than less flavorful. So if you are someone who likes an electrolyte drink mix that is less sweet, you might prefer something else. It is sweet enough that I am surprised because it doesn’t contain much sugar. I decided to try two of the three flavors while hiking and the other at another point.

The PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix mixes well, and you don’t have to worry about the gritty taste or chunks at the bottom. I never had an issue with it.  I also haven’t had any stomach issues with it and can see why they say they are the most balanced on the market.

Flavor:

Blueberry Acai: The Blueberry Acai was the first flavor I tried. I am a fan of blueberry and found it sweet but not overpowering. I mixed it first in a glass to see the bright, bold, purplish blueberry color. It mixed well into my hydration container, and it tasted like a healthy dose of blueberries.

Watermelon Cucumber: Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this flavor. I haven’t really tried anything running or nutrition that has that flavor profile, and I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of cucumbers. I was surprised by how good it tasted. It didn’t taste “vegetable-like” and quickly became one of my favorite flavors.

Lemon Lime: I’ve said before, but sometimes lemon-lime can be too tart, and it makes it hard to breathe. The PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix is one of the sweetest lemon-lime drink mixes I’ve tried. It’s easy to drink. While it’s my least favorite of the three, it still tastes good. It isn’t a flavor I feel like is a “last resort.”

Cost: 30 servings for $36.99

The PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix is not one of the cheaper options, but it’s also not the most expensive. It comes right in the middle. I find the lower calorie count for cost slightly more expensive than I prefer. In all, I like them and will continue to use them, but I am not 100% sold on the price, and it’s not something I will purchase often.

PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix Conclusion:

If you prefer a sweeter drink mix, you will appreciate the PNG Electrolytes Hydration Drink Mix. It’s much sweeter than competitors like Nuun. It is more pricy than many options, but I feel a difference when using it versus just water.
