The company Runners Love Yoga was created by good friend Ann. She currently lives in Charlottesville and teaches yoga at UVA. She has accumulated thousands of hours doing so. Ann is an incredible runner herself and qualified for the Olympic Trials running a 2:44.45. She runs in her own gear, so you know if it withstands her mileage, it’s got to be good.
Even before apparel, Runners Love Yoga has hundreds of yoga videos to help runners run their best by practicing yoga. They are all taught by Ann, who has more than a decade of teaching experience.
Ann is also one of the few people that enjoy swimming as much (if not more) than I do. She logs pool hours on most days. Finally, to add even more to her list of talents, she has a Ph.D. from UVA. You can watch her speak about Yoga and how it’s helped her running here.
All of that to say, I’m here to review apparel.
Runners Love Yoga Gear Review:
Runners Love Yoga has all kinds of gear from sports bras, singlets, leggings, shorts, hoodies, and even joggers. There is something for everything. Is it good for running? Ann runs in her own designs, which is a good indicator that it does hold up.
Sofia Soft Bra (sugarplum floral)
I’ve had a few bad experiences with sports bras over the years, so I am extremely particular about sports bras. I prefer something with removable padding and that isn’t see-through. Spoiler: I ended up like the Sofia Soft Bra so much; I got it in confetti too.
The Runners Love Yoga Sofia Sports Bra has medium support and is comfortable. It’s soft and durable. I’ve run long runs and had not had an issue with chafing or becoming see-through. You can tell a woman makes it for women.
Fit: The Runners Love Yoga Sofia Soft Bra fits true to size. I usually wear a size small or medium in sports bras, and the size small is perfect.
Skylar Short Sleeve (bubblegum):
In 2020, I became a plain T-shirt and bottoms kind of person. I have close to 20 plain t-shirts that can be used for running or lounging. I need to have a performance material so I don’t chafe if I run. I will admit this is one of the softest t-shirts I’ve ever owned. It’s heavier and thick. Sometimes I get into the mindset that a T-shirt is a T-shirt, but this T-shirt is cut above the rest. It’s my favorite t-shirt, and I found myself lounging in it more often than not. I wear it A LOT.
Fit: The Runners Love Yoga Skylar Short Sleeve fits true to size, and it’s a flattering cut. It’s not too tight but also not loose either.
Ella Race Shorts (sugarplum floral)
To complete the look, the Runners Love Yoga Ella Race shorts were perfect. Most people don’t realize it, but I’m 5’8, so finding a short that isn’t “too short” can often be challenging. My ideal shorts have a high waistband and are around 3-4 inches in seem. The Runners Love Yoga Ella Shorts meet that criteria. They are thinner material, so they feel good racing. The waistband lies flat, so you don’t worry about it irritating doing your workouts either.
Most importantly, they don’t chafe or ride up. I’ve run about 100 miles in them with no issues.
Fit: The Runners Love Yoga Ella Race Shorts fit true to size. I wear a size extra small or small, and the size small fits well.
Bike Shorts (Confetti):
As I get more fashionable and trendy, I decided to order the bike shorts as well. The bike shorts from Runners Love Yoga are 9 inches and perfect for that day you aren’t sure if you want pants or shorts. I cannot emphasize how soft they are, and I feel like I could wear them anywhere and anytime.
Fit: The Runners Love Yoga Bike shorts fit true to size. In shorts, I am regularly a size small, and these are no different. The 9-inch length hits just above the knee (I’m 5’8). They also don’t ride up or fall down. I haven’t had a single issue with them, and they are one of my favorite shorts I’ve bought in the last couple of years.
Conclusion:
If you are looking to support a small business, I highly suggest Runners Love Yoga. Not just because Ann is one of the nicest people I know, but because Runners Love Yoga is a high-quality brand with materials built to last for running or yoga. You can also learn more about practicing yoga than I ever knew possible.
