Lull Mattress Review
Recently, I was lucky to try Lull Mattresses. As runners, we often forget one of the most important parts of running recovery: sleep!
This post is sponsored by Lull Mattress, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Now, what the heck do Lull Mattresses have to do with sleep?
You spend a lot of time in your bed sleeping and recovering, but if you don’t have the right mattress, you aren’t going to sleep well. Studies have actually shown you spend 1/3rd of your life sleeping, but there is a difference between sleeping and sleeping well. Anyone who is laid in bed for hours without actually sleeping can tell you that.
What makes Lull Mattresses Different?
Lull Mattresses vs. Traditional Memory Foam Mattress:
- Lull Mattresses have a breathable gel top layer that transfers heat away from the body.
- With Lull Mattresses, there is no sinking in or feeling stuck.
- They use 3 layer technology to promote healthy spine alignment.
- Finally, Lull Mattress is CertiPUR-US®-Certified. This means all materials are non-toxic and non-carcinogenic.
How Can Sleep Make a Difference with Running?
- When we are sleeping, our body released a growth hormone that rebuilds muscles and requires our brains.
- Sleep deprivation causes you to produce less HGH.
- During sleep, your body creates new cells, repairs tissues, and boosts your immune system.
- An overlooked fact is sleep deprivation often causes the body to be less effective at converting carbohydrates to glycogen, and you might “hit the wall” sooner during workouts.
How Much Sleep Do You Need?
Most studies show endurance athletes need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep to work out their best. Yes, that is hard, and it can be hard to shut things off and go to bed at a reasonable time. With anything, we must prioritize and make sacrifices. You might have to scroll less Instagram, meal prep, and have things prepared ahead of time. I’ve written several posts about how I get to bed early. Whatever you must do, you’ll probably have to plan and prioritize more.
My Experience with Lull Mattress:
Since the most important part is getting more sleep it’s important to talk about Lull Mattress. Is it a good mattress?
First, Lull Mattress gives a 100-night trial. That means if it doesn’t work for you, you can return it. Mattresses these days are expensive, so it’s nice to know you aren’t married to it. Plus, Lull Mattress will arrange for a free pickup if you aren’t fully satisfied.
No contact: My Lull Mattress arrived at my house in a box. It blended in with all other boxes, and honestly, you would never guess an entire mattress is in there.
Even though Lull Mattress was tightly packed for shipping, the mattress fully expands within 10 minutes of unboxing. You can sleep on immediately after.
The Lull Mattress Three Layer Technology:
Layer 1: 1.5-inch gel-infused memory foam cooling top layer absorbs and distributes body heat while supporting pressure points.
Layer 2: 1.5-inch foam blend transition layer offers support and motion distribution, without the sinking sensation.
Layer 3: The 7-inch polyurethane foam foundation offers durability, added support, and prevents sagging.
How Did I Sleep?
I’ve been using Lull Mattress for about a month now, and I truly can say I’m sleeping better and less restless through the night. The first night, I was slightly concerned because Lull Mattress is softer than any other mattress I’ve ever used. That worry was put away fairly quickly, considering I’ve fallen asleep faster than almost every night prior.
Two things I appreciate are the cooling top layer as well as the motion distribution layer. I don’t feel when my spouse moves at night or when my cat jumps on the bed. I move and roll around a lot in my sleep, so I know my husband also appreciates that I’m not disturbing his sleep too. Finally, I’m a side sleeper, and my arms don’t fall asleep as they do on many other mattresses.
If you are looking to update your mattress, I highly suggest Lull Mattress. You can save $250 by using this link. You won’t be disappointed.
