Mortal Hydration Review

Mortal Hydration

I was excited to try Mortal Hydration. Living in the Mojave Desert, I am always looking for ways to stay hydrated. Known for its hand-crafted kombuchas like Black Magic and Marg Simpson, Mortal recently launched a new line of hydration mixes, available exclusively through The Feed.

With flavors like Berry, Mango, and Margarita, these neon-colored packets bring bold taste to help combat bonking, thirst, and workout boredom. I mean how many electrolyte mixes are available in margarita?

Before trying Mortal Hydration, I had a few questions:

  • Does Mortal Hydration work? Yes. I’ve found it’s a great electrolyte mix to keep you hydrated.
  • Does Mortal Hydration taste good? Honestly, it’s one of the best hydration mixes I’ve tried yet.

Now, onto an honest review of Mortal Hydration.

Mortal HydrationAbout Mortal Hydration

Mortal was developed by a World Tour Sports Nutritionist with endurance athletes in mind. Each mix is designed to ensure you stay properly hydrated during intense workouts or races. It’s actually really hard to find anything about the brand itself!

Electrolyte and Sodium Breakdown

Each serving provides 190 milligrams of essential electrolytes like potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Unlike most electrolyte mixes, they also have 10 grams of carbohydrates/40 calories. this makes them slightly better for working out, versus drinking it throughout the day. Is it fine to have 1-2 a day? Of course, but do have those added carbohydrates that make them better for working out.

You can also choose between two sodium options:

  • Regular flavors: 450 milligrams of sodium, ideal for typical workout conditions.
  • Salty flavors: 920 milligrams of sodium, perfect for endurance efforts or when training in hot conditions.

The fact that Mortal Hydration has a salty version is awesome, and I hope eventually more brands do this.

My Experience with Mortal Hydration

Right off the bat, I was amazed at how flavorful Mortal Hydration is. If I’m being honest, I prefer a more flavorful drink. I cannot do sweet upon sweet things while running. Seriously, why are most gels and drink mixes so sweet? So the bold and more tart flavors are a welcome change.

I’ve tried all of the Mortal Hydration flavors now. The salted versus regular options taste about the same to me, but I definitely feel better with the salted versions out in the desert.

  • Margarita: This is a fun flavor that’s a little tart. I think they hit it pretty spot on.
  • Berry: Berry anything is usually my favorite flavor, and this is no different. I like that it’s more of a tart berry than a sweet one.
  • Mango: Mango is fun and on the sweeter side. Is it too sweet? Not really, but it is sweeter. It’s definitely the sweetest of the three.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed each flavor of Mortal Hydration, and I found that they work. Plus, you can use them before, during, and after running to keep you hydrated.

Cost: 25 for $29.95

Mortal Hydration is not cheap and is one of the more expensive electrolyte options. However, it also contains 10 grams of carbohydrates, and you can choose either salty or regular. So, there are some benefits that other electrolyte brands do not offer. They also offer single servings each for $1.25.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Mortal Hydration stands out as a flavorful and effective hydration mix, perfect for athletes who need something more than just sweetness in their drink. Whether you’re training in the heat or any endurance event, the salty version provides a unique and much-needed option.

The price is higher than average, but with the added carbohydrates and a choice between regular or salty options, it’s worth considering for those serious about hydration. Overall, I’m a fan.
