I was so excited to try the Venustas Heated Jacket. To be honest, before then, I had no idea heated jackets existed, but the moment I found out, I knew I wanted one. While the desert isn’t the coldest place in the world, it does get down to 20 degrees or just below, and the wind is enough to freeze you. Not a running review, but the Venustas Heated Jacket has become a staple for me. For some reason, this year, I also haven’t dealt well with the winter and find myself colder and more miserable than usual.
Before trying the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket, I had a few questions:
- Is the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket heavy? The battery packs worried me.
- How long does the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket stay warm?
- Is the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket a good jacket? Is it worth it? To be fair, less than $200 for a winter jacket these days isn’t that expensive.
About Venustas:
Venustas was founded with a vision to create products adaptable to any environment. This vision took shape following an expedition to the Rocky Mountains, where the founders encountered severe cold. The experience highlighted the need for apparel that could withstand extreme conditions without sacrificing comfort or mobility. This led to the development of Venustas, inspired by Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus,” symbolizing beauty and freedom against nature’s challenges.
Venustas’ flagship product, the Men’s Heated Jacket, equipped with a 7.4V battery pack, is a testament to their commitment to innovation. This insulated, windproof coat with a detachable hood did so well that the company was inspired to create the Venustas innovation lab and craft several kinds of new products, including jackets, vests, and even underwear!
Venustas has sold over 40 products, more than 300,000 units, to over 10,000 customers worldwide. The company’s reach spans over 8 countries, with plans to expand further.
About the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket:
The unisex heated jacket was designed to be versatile. Since it’s the Venustas flagship product, I knew it was the jacket I wanted to try.
What makes the Venustas 7.4V Heated Jacket Different?
- Upgraded Design: The jacket includes a zip-up pocket and a removable hood, which is zippered. The cuffs and bottom of the jacket are elastically adjustable to prevent wind intrusion. Living in one of the windiest areas in the United States, I can tell you it does prevent wind.
- Heating System: It is equipped with six carbon fiber heating elements located in core body areas: left and right chest, left and right shoulder, mid-back, and collar.
- Heating Levels: There are three heating levels (high, medium, low), adjustable via a button. The heating duration varies from 3-4 hours on high, 4-5 hours on medium, to 8-9 hours on low settings. Updated 7.4V
- Battery: The jacket is powered by an upgraded 7.4V battery, supporting up to 8-9 hours of heat on low settings. The battery is portable and easy to carry.
Additional Specifications:
- Temperature Settings: High at 130°F/55°C, medium at 113°F/45°C, and low at 95°F/35°C.
- Battery Details: 5000mAh capacity, Type-C 5V/2.1A input, with a weight of 6.88oz.
- Material: The shell is 100% Nylon, the body lining is 95% Polyester and 5% Silver Mylar Thermal Fabric, with 100% Polyester filler and sleeve lining, and 100% Nylon hoodie lining.
- Care and Warranty: The jacket is machine washable, with a 1-year warranty on the battery and a 2-year warranty on heating elements (available only through the official website).
That is a lot of features for a jacket.
My Experience with the Venustas Heated Jacket:
Venustas has several styles, but I knew I wanted one with a hood and one that was fairly lightweight and portable. The Venustas 7.4V seemed perfect for me, plus it’s their flagship/signature item. And spoiler, it is. I haven’t found a jacket I love more for those cold days. The material is 90% down and 10% feather, which makes it super light and not overly fluffy. I don’t feel like a giant marshmallow walking into work. It’s easy to move around, and you don’t feel like it’s restricting you at all.
There are four heating pieces, with two on each side and one on the top and bottom. You can feel the warmth when you turn it on, and it’s nothing like I’ve ever experienced. It doesn’t get too hot, but hot enough to combat those blustery days. The heat is comfortable, like sitting next to a space heater the entire day. In fact, sometimes I do sit with my jacket at work instead of a space heater.
How does the battery work in the Venustas Heated Jacket? Is the battery heavy?
The heated jacket’s battery conveniently fits into an inside front pocket, connecting to the jacket via a small cord for the DC output. It doesn’t feel any heavier than having something small in your pocket. It’s noticeable but not so much that it weighs you down. Some of the bigger phones are heavier than the battery pack. This battery is rechargeable through a USB-C port and takes about 6 hours to fully charge. It has 3 settings, with high lasting 3 hours, medium heat lasting 6, and low lasting 10 hours.
I have my jacket on low to medium a lot of the time and have found it is pretty accurate as far as how long it lasts. It also shows how much charge you have left! A total bonus of the Venustas Jacket is that it has a USB output that you can charge most cell phones with (of course, this will consume the battery, but it’s definitely a cool feature to have).
I have really been enjoying wearing my Venustas jacket. Even when I don’t have the heat on, it’s a functional jacket and one of my favorites ever. I am picky about jackets, so I was completely surprised with how much I like the Venustas Jacket; I thought it would be more of a novelty, not my favorite jacket ever.
Price: $179.99
For a winter jacket, less than $200 is not bad. But then add the heating element, and it’s a good deal. I’ve routinely seen it on sale for even as low as $129.99.
Venustas Heated Jacket Conclusion:
I really don’t have any complaints about the Venustas Jacket. I appreciate how warm it is, and as someone who doesn’t love the cold, I’m always looking for ways to stay warm. I really don’t have any complaints.
Who should buy the Venustas Heated Jacket? If you are someone looking for a warm jacket this winter, this is one of the warmest.
Who should not buy the Venustas Heated Jacket? I don’t really have a reason not to buy it, unless you don’t need a winter jacket because it’s always warm where you are.
