Running the Riverwalk Exploration Trail (Laughlin, Nv)

Riverwalk Exploration Trail

The Riverwalk Exploration Trail is located in downtown Laughlin. As I posted about, I accidentally signed up for a race a year in advance and had no idea they canceled 2023. This left me with looking for somewhere to work out in the morning. I was looking to do a long run and didn’t want to be interrupted by cars, stoplights, or people filtering in and out of casinos. (Which LOL, you are in a Casino town after all…)

Why use the Riverwalk Exploration Trail? Are you looking for a spot to walk or run in Laughlin, Nevada? Then it’s a perfect spot with plenty of parking.

About the Riverwalk Exploration Trail:

Distance: 4.6 miles

Elevation: 200 feet

Strava

The Riverwalk Exploration Trail is a 4.6-mile paved path that goes up to the Davis Dam. It’s not “super exciting” but it does give you plenty of views of the Colorado River. It’s great as an easy path for walking or running. Plus, there are bathrooms. With recent additions, you can take the Riverwalk Exploration Trail to the Arizona side and say you’ve run and walked in 2 states and 2 time zones.

My Experience with the Riverwalk Exploration Trail:

I was looking for a place to run in downtown Laughlin. I didn’t want to run around casino-goers, and the weather was nice enough I wanted to run outdoors. I stumbled upon the Riverwalk Exploration Trail. It was about a mile from my hotel, but there is also parking at the trail. From there, the trail is what you would expect any paved trail to be like. There are bathrooms, benches, and great views of the Colorado River.

Once we got to the Davis Dam, we saw the road was closed and it continues up there. You’re able to get nice views and head into Arizona. There is about 200 feet of climbing to get up there. As you get into Arizona, the trail gets hillier until it ends at the road.

We saw plenty of bikers, walkers, and runners on the Riverwalk Exploration Trail, so it looks like the spot to work out if you’re in the area. We also saw a few people walking their dogs and pushing baby strollers, so it’s not too arduous. Although walking up the hill to the Davis Dam might be a little steep. Once you get to the Lake Mead area, it does cost money to go in.

Riverwalk Exploration Trail Conclusion:

All in all, it’s the best spot to work out if you’re in the area. You don’t have to worry about cars, stoplights, and you have access to views and bathrooms.
