A departure from the typical Wednesday sports product reviews, but with the pandemic, one thing I’ve been doing is handwritten notes to friends and family. Since we can’t see and hang out with friends right now, I use handwritten notes as a way to stay connected outside of social media.
Many people want to start note writing and don’t know where to start. It’s true, you just need a pen and paper but having a unique notecard that’s “all you” makes it more special. I’ve why been using Basic Invite.
Basic Invite has all sorts of custom cards from birthday cards, to wedding day card sets, to a wedding invitation, save the dates, graduation cards, photo mugs, and stationery. Basic Invite is anything but basic and that is maybe why I was drawn to it!
A Few Details about Basic Invite:
Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers almost unlimited color options with instant previews online. It was easy for me to set up different designs with my name or logo. After you select a design, you can change the colors and elements to match the card. There are over 180 colors to choose from whether you want Royal Blue, Navy Blue, or Cerulean. Blue is not just “blue.
Why Basic Invite?
One of my favorite aspects of Basic Invite is the ability to have custom samples. After ordering a few different samples to try, I received my invitations in about a week.
Basic Invite Custom Samples:
Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows someone to order a printed sample of their actual stationery or invitation before they place their final order. That way, you can see the paper quality from Basic Invite and how it will print, and make sure the card is perfect.
This would be especially helpful with
- high school graduation announcements (or college, or kindergarten…whatever graduation card you want or need….just because you aren’t walking doesn’t mean you aren’t graduating!)
- college graduation party invitations (even if parties are delayed)
- thank you notes for graduation gifts
It’s a hard time right now with so many significant life events like graduation on pause. That doesn’t mean you can’t send out graduation cards or wedding cards. We are moving soon and I’m planning to send moving cards (despite not knowing when we are moving).

That’s also why I’ve been sending handwritten notes. I like mail and it gives me something to look forward too.
Basic Invite Custom Envelopes:
If customizing the envelope is your thing there are over 40 Different Colors of Envelopes. All envelopes are peel and seal so they can be closed safely, quickly, and securely.
Have you ever gotten a package or letter with a custom envelope? I think it’s such a fun and special touch!
Address Capturing Service:
Finally, if you are mailing cards or notes, Basic Invite also has an “Address Capturing Service.” I had no idea what this was until I read up about it. The address capturing service allows customers to share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media to request their friends and family’s addresses. Then addresses are stored in the customer’s account and can be selected during the design process.
Then Basic Invite offers recipient address printing (and return address) at no cost on all card orders. This would have been so helpful during my wedding several years ago. Addressing cards and labels was possibly my least favorite part of getting married.
It will also be especially useful when we finally move and send moving cards. While I have an excel spreadsheet of addresses from our wedding a few years ago, it’s much easier than retyping everything out. Less room for errors as well.
I’ve enjoyed writing notes to friends and family. While social media allows you to stay connected there is nothing like receiving a handwritten note in the mail. I think it’s one of the best surprises. The quality of Basic Invite is great and if I needed the occasion to send out various cards, Basic Invite would be the first place I had in mind.

Questions for you:
Do you ever send handwritten notes?
Did you have any big events canceled this year?
Surely handwriting has a different magic, I prefer it and it always gives me a different emotion.
You and me both Cristina!
I’ve been doing the same. Each week I send out notes to various friends and family to let them know I’m thinking of them and to remind them to stay safe. I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback.

I still send handwritten invites, because can’t be rescheduled easily (unlike emails, or text messages). Good impressions always matters.
I never thought about it like that, but so true Blair.

Thanks for writing about this service. Several of my older relatives don’t have the internet or email and I still send them handwritten notes. It seems like fun and quality stationary is harder to find at the stores these days, so I appreciate a good online source.
Of course Marie, plus it’s much more fun to have a personal letter!
