I was excited to try Ketone-IQ. After seeing several influencers promote it and claim they felt better, I wanted to see what the hype was about. I had a basic understanding of ketones, and Ketone-IQ reminded me somewhat of a 5-hour energy drink.
In a world where performance, metabolism, and longevity are top priorities, Health Via Modern Nutrition (H.V.M.N.) offers an innovative solution. Designed to optimize your body’s energy levels and mental clarity, Ketone-IQ taps into the power of ketone. H.V.M.N claimed they have a cleaner, more efficient fuel source. Does that make it better than something like a 5 hour energy shot?
Before trying Ketone-IQ I had a few questions:
- Does Ketone-IQ work? My short answer is no. I haven’t seen or felt any differences since trying them. I wish I could tell you I felt any sort of difference.
- What does Ketone-IQ taste like? It tastes terrible and despite it only being a shot, I can never seem to finish it in one gulp.
- Should endurance athletes reduce their carbohydrate intake? I do not believe so and I think doing so can damage the body long term and you will not reach your full potential.
- What are ketones? Short answer, Ketones are a natural fuel source. Longer answer below.
With that, let’s get into an honest review of Ketone-IQ.
What Are Ketones?
I’m no stranger to Ketones. I graduated with a public health degree and ketones came up on several occasions in different courses. Ketones are a natural fuel source your body produces when it runs out of carbs and starts to break down fat for energy. Unlike fat, ketones can cross the blood-brain barrier, offering both your brain and body a more efficient form of energy compared to glucose or fat. In today’s carb-heavy diets, most people rarely experience elevated ketone levels, but products like Ketone-IQ make it easier to access this energy source.
Ketone-IQ Overview
H.V.M.N. worked closely with the U.S. military and top universities to develop Ketone-IQ, a drinkable form of ketones that helps you return to an optimized metabolic state. (It always cracks me up when brands use working with the military or NASA to prove they are “good”. I digress)
According to H.V.M.N, this product isn’t just for people following a keto diet—it’s for anyone looking to improve their metabolic health. Whether you’re an athlete, a health optimizer, or a keto dieter, elevating your ketone levels with Ketone-IQ delivers stable, lasting energy without the spikes and crashes associated with glucose.
Ketone-IQ is made using R-1,3-Butanediol, a natural ketone created through a fermentation process. This provides clean, sustainable energy, and the added caffeine from green tea boosts metabolism, while vitamins like Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 support brain function and mood. It’s designed to be an easy way to raise ketone levels without complicated diet changes or fasting.
My Experience with Ketone-IQ
I bought a 6-pack of Ketone-IQ on Amazon because I didn’t want to commit to the 24-pack without knowing if it worked. They are not cheap. Honestly, I’m glad I didn’t. I’ve taken all six on different occasions: before easy runs, before workouts, before long runs, and on days when I didn’t work out at all. Each time, I felt no noticeable difference in energy or performance.
The taste of Ketone-IQ was another issue for me. It’s one of the worst-tasting products I’ve ever tried. Even though the serving size is like a shot, it was almost impossible for me to drink it in one go. Each time, it took me multiple attempts. I feel like I’m the only person who thinks this, but Ketone-IQ just doesn’t taste good.
Despite the hype, I’m left wondering if Ketone-IQ is more of a placebo effect for some people. If they believe it helps them work out better, maybe it does. But that was not my experience at all.
Cost: $
At $35 for a 6-pack, it is not cheap. Given that I didn’t notice any benefits from it, I can’t say it was worth the cost for me.
Ketone-IQ Conclusion
Ketone-IQ offers an interesting concept for those seeking a boost in metabolic health or looking to fuel their body with ketones. However, based on my personal experience, I didn’t notice a significant improvement in my workouts or energy levels. The taste was also a major downside for me. While some people may find ketones effective, it’s not for everyone. If you’re curious and don’t mind the cost or flavor, it could be worth trying, but manage your expectations.
Who should buy Ketone-IQ? It may be a good fit for those following a strict low-carb diet or those who experience benefits from elevated ketone levels. Endurance athletes and those practicing intermittent fasting might also find it useful for maintaining energy levels without relying on carbohydrates. To clarify once again, I don’t believe endurance athletes need to reduce their carbohydrate intake. In fact, doing so can be dangerous.
Who should not buy Ketone-IQ? If you’re expecting an immediate and noticeable difference in energy or performance, like I did, it might not be for you. Additionally, if taste is important, be prepared—it’s not the easiest product to get down.
