Folsom Lake State Recreation Area and Browns Ravine is a beautiful recreation area just in North Folsom. The year I ran the trail half marathon there. The day before, I spent some time checking it out. I wanted to know what to expect when running the trails. Plus, when you are racing, you sometimes end up zoning out and missing the beauty of a park.
Long term readers may remember I was a public health major in college and worked in the field right after college.
When I worked in the field and before moving to New Jersey, I blog more about mental health. It’s a topic passionate to me. Since May is mental health month, it’s the perfect time to talk more about it.
It’s no secret the pandemic has affected people’s mental health. Over a year of lockdowns and not seeing friends is hard! Now, as things are opening up, it feels “weird” to see friends and family.
Awareness about the importance of mental health is the first way to end the stigma. Like any chronic disease, it’s important to talk openly because mental health disorders live and grow in silence.
I’ve blogged openly and honestly about my anxiety and depression throughout the years. Everyone has a different experience, but sharing your own story can help others feel as though they are not alone.
I recently stopped at the Original Mel’s Diner in Vacaville, California. It’s a chain diner. I thought I had been to a location in San Francisco and but it turns out that it was the Mel’s Drive-In, and the two are not related. So when I found out they were different, I decided to go to the Original Mel’s Diner in Vacaville. I’m not opposed to going to repeat diners or restaurants, but I like to try new things.
I’ve wanted to try the Hoka Carbon X 2 for what seems like…forever? Maybe not that long, but a while. To me, the original Carbon X didn’t live up to a “fast carbon plated shoe.” It was a great trainer, but would I race a marathon in it…probably not.
So when the Carbon X 2 came out, I was ready! Let’s be honest here, when am I not ready for new shoes?
