To be frank, I’m shocked with how much I like the Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil. When I first saw “oil”, I thought there was no way this would work. There aren’t many sunscreens that double as skincare and still hold up through sweat, sun, and long workouts. But Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil just might be that option. If you’ve ever skipped sunscreen because you didn’t want to feel greasy or chalky, this one is different. It’s glowy, it’s non-greasy, and it protects. Oh, and it makes your skin look like it belongs in a vacation ad. As someone who has never—and I repeat never—had great skin, this one sits well with me.
I’ve been testing sunscreens for a few years, especially options that can handle running, swimming, and Mojave-level sun exposure. The Supergoop Glow Oil landed on my radar for two reasons: it’s water-resistant, and it claims to leave skin “visibly glowing.”
I’m not a stranger to Supergoop, and a few products I’ve tried are:

- Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF Review
- Supergoop! Sunscreen Daily Moisturizer Review (This one is my favorite moisturizer ever)
Before trying the Supergoop Glow Oil, I had a few questions:
- Does the Supergoop Glow Oil make your skin greasy? No. With “oil” in the name, it feels counterintuitive, as if your skin is going to become greasy when using it but I have not had that issue.
- Does the Supergoop Glow Oil work? Yes, I’ve been really happy with it.
- Is the Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil good for those with bad skin? Yes. I’ve never had good skin. From acne, to oily, to now dry in the desert, my skin has just never been great. That being said, I have no issues with the Glow Oil.
Now, let’s get into an honest Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil review.

About the Brand: Supergoop
Supergoop has basically rebranded sunscreen as skincare. Instead of white, chalky goop you dread using, they’ve made sun protection something you actually want to wear. Their product line includes everything from primer-style sunscreens to dewy glow serums to SPF eyeshadows.
What makes Supergoop stand out is their focus on clean ingredients, fun textures, and everyday wearability. They’re also serious about sun education and giving back through their Ounce by Ounce program, which provides free SPF to schools across the U.S.
About the Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil
The Glow Oil is a body sunscreen disguised as skincare. It’s packed with nourishing oils like argan, grapeseed, and meadowfoam seed oil that hydrate your skin while adding a soft glow. And unlike some oils that feel sticky or too heavy, this one absorbs fast and dries down beautifully. It’s not shiny; it’s just radiant.
It comes in an easy-pour bottle (finally… no aerosol mess) and a few scent options, though I went for the original unscented to avoid any potential skin issues. The formula is free from parabens and is vegan and cruelty-free, which checks a few more boxes for me.
My Experience with Supergoop Glow Oil
I’m going to be honest with you all…I thought this was for your face for at least a week after buying it. My face was looking glowy and dewy, and I was complimented multiple times. I didn’t realize it was really for your body. There is really no reason you can’t use it on your face, but it’s not designed as a facial sunscreen.
When I finally put it on my body, it felt hydrating but not greasy and it gave my skin a healthy sheen that didn’t look like I was trying too hard. It also didn’t bother me during workouts. Sometimes sunscreen will feel too heavy or prevent you from sweating. I can’t deal with that, especially in the summer. The Supergoop Glow Oil doesn’t do that, and I’m able to go through my body’s natural sweating.
Here’s what stood out:
-
No eye-stinging when I started sweating
-
Didn’t slide off during my run
-
No white cast, even when I layered it on
-
My skin actually felt soft hours later
I also tested it post-swim (poolside and ocean), and again, it held up surprisingly well. I usually assume body oils and sweat don’t mix, but this one held its ground without leaving any weird residue. I also couldn’t smell it coming off while in the pool…LOL. Bonus: I didn’t smell like fake coconut or sunscreen chemicals.
In all, I’ve been really happy with the Supergoop Glow Oil. I’m looking for the best sunscreens for active people, and this one has been a top choice.
Price
The Supergoop SPF 50 Glow Oil retails for around $40 for a 5 oz bottle (right now you can save 10%). It’s not drugstore cheap, but when you consider it’s doing double duty as a moisturizer and high-SPF protection, the price starts to make sense. You also don’t need to use a ton of it to get full coverage, which helps stretch the bottle longer than you’d expect.
Supergoop Glow Oil Conclusion
The Supergoop Glow Oil SPF 50 is one of the few body sunscreens that I’ve been really happy with. I’m honestly shocked since it’s marketed as an oil. It hydrates, protects, and doesn’t melt off your skin the second you start sweating. Whether you’re headed out for a long run, a pool day, or just a walk during your lunch break, it’s a solid pick.
