UnTapped Nutrition Review

A simple google search for UnTapped and you’ll probably find the Untapped Beer App.  UnTapped Nutrition and Untapped Beer are not the same…but maybe you can use either for fueling.

Incase you wondered UnTapped Nutrition is written as: “UnTapped” not Untapped”.

How Did UnTapped Nutrition Begin?

UnTapped Nutrition began both on a bike and a pair of skis. The founder and professional cyclist Ted King and the Cochran family of professional alpine skiers gravitated to maple syrup.

Maple syrup is natural and simple and they found maple syrup met their needs.  They founded UnTapped Nutrition in 2013.  To understand more about Untapped Gels and Nutrition, we must understand about maple syrup.

A few things about maple syrup:

It’s no wonder that UnTapped Nutrition wanted to use naturally occurring real maple syrup in their gels.

UnTapped Nutrition comes in all sorts of forms including gels, waffles, and “mapleaid”.

So how does UnTapped Nutrition taste?

That’s one of the most important parts of fueling right? One thing to keep in mind about the UnTapped Gels are extremely thin. So if you find other gels to be too thick, the UnTapped Gels might be a good place to start.

I’ve tried each of the UnTapped Nutrition products while either running, before a bike ride or hiking. They all taste great and I tend to prefer either the UnTapped Gels or Untapped Waffles. I like the UnTapped Gels during a long or hard run and the UnTapped Waffles before or during a bike ride or hike. I don’t know, I just prefer to “eat” something during biking or hiking.

My favorite is the Untapped Maple Syrup which tastes exactly how it sounds. None have a weird or artificial aftertaste. I’ve had a sustained energy boost during my ride or long run without crashing afterward.

Here is a breakdown of some of the UnTapped Nutrition:

UnTapped Gels:

UnTapped Waffles:

UnTapped Mapleaid:

The UnTapped Mapleaid is the most confusing of the 3? What is exactly is: “Mapleaid”? The Mapleaid is made with unrefined, pure maple sugar and has minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants to make it an ideal athletic fuel.

It’s a drink mix with the calories needed to perform as well as electrolytes.

UnTapped Nutrition Conclusion:

If you’re looking for a thinner gel or a nutrition product that is all-natural, UnTapped Nutrition is a great place to start. Or if you like the taste of maple syrup as much as I do.
