This has been an exhausting week. With the increase of mileage, work hours and outside factors, I have found myself exhausted each day.
| Monday: | 10.65 miles easy |
| Tuesday: | 10.7 miles easy |
| Wednesday: | 10.75 miles easy with Tim’s dad |
| Thursday: | 11.3 miles fast finish |
| Friday: | Off |
| Saturday: | 7.5 miles easy treadmill |
| Sunday: | 21 miles Long Run |
| Total: | 72 Miles |
My training began on Monday morning. It was misting outside but wasn’t pouring rain. By mile 4, it began pouring rain (and 35 degree rain at that). I could have turned around but I would have ended with 8 miles. I thought I might as well finish the route I had planned because I was going to be grimy either way.
The weather on Tuesday was much more tolerable. I had DOMS from my 10 mile race but I didn’t feel awful. I just felt sore.
Wednesday was a nice change of pace and scenery since I ran with my (future) inlaw. I always enjoy running with Tim’s dad and we had a really enjoyable run. By Wednesday evening, I found myself exhausted, miserable and just tired. The day and also week had caught up to me.
Looking back, it doesn’t make sense why I ran on Thursday. I wasn’t feeling the run beforehand. When I actually got running, I did feel good. Post run, I felt like my body had rebelled against me. I found myself exhausted and grumpy the rest of the day. In hindsight, despite the run feeling really good I wish I hadn’t gone out. It didn’t make for a great rest of the day.
I slept well on Thursday night and slept in late on Friday. My body needed the 10 hours of sleep. The rest day was exactly what I needed. On Saturday, I ran an easy 7.5 on the treadmill and headed into work early.
Between rest and a chance of scenery, I felt much better on my long run Sunday (than any other run). With all of that sleep I felt good running. I’m glad I took that method.
My long run on Sunday felt great. It wasn’t the best weather but I have no complaints. I ran 10 miles outdoors. When I got home, I was soaken wet and needed to either change, stop running or run inside. I opted to run inside and finished a great run. It was exactly what I needed to motivate me (training wise) for the marathon. 22 miles will be the longest I’ll go before the race and I will do one more beforehand.
