The Paris Marathon is switching to a lottery for 2027, changing how runners register for one of the largest marathons in Europe. Just this week, I wrote about why is getting so hard to enter marathons and changes in many big city races. Instead of the previous first-come, first-served Paris Marathon registration system, runners looking for a general entry will now apply through the Paris Marathon 2027 lottery.
The 2027 ASICS Marathon de Paris is scheduled for April 4, 2027 and will celebrate the 50th edition of the Paris Marathon. The race also has a new title sponsor, with ASICS replacing Schneider Electric as the naming partner beginning in 2027.
Anyone searching for the old Schneider Electric Paris Marathon 2027 name is looking for the same race. The official race name going forward is the ASICS Marathon de Paris.

How Does the Paris Marathon 2027 Lottery Work?
The Paris Marathon 2027 registration lottery opened September 8, 2026 and is scheduled to remain open through September 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Entering the Paris Marathon lottery is free. Applying on the first day does not give you better odds than entering later during the registration window, which removes the frantic rush that came with first-come, first-served Paris Marathon registration.
Runners can apply through the official ASICS Marathon de Paris registration page.
The first Paris Marathon lottery results are scheduled to be released beginning October 1, 2026. If selected, runners have 72 hours to confirm their Paris Marathon entry and pay for their bib. If someone does not accept the entry within that window, the available spot can move to another runner.
That also means runners who are not selected immediately may still have a chance through later Paris Marathon drawings while entries remain available.
How Much Is the Paris Marathon in 2027?
The Paris Marathon 2027 entry fee is €169 for runners selected through the general lottery.
Previously, Paris Marathon prices increased as registration tiers filled. Under the new Paris Marathon lottery system, runners selected through the general drawing pay the same entry price rather than racing to register before a cheaper pricing tier disappears. You only pay the Paris Marathon entry fee after being selected and accepting your spot.

Can You Enter the Paris Marathon Lottery With Friends?
Yes, and this may be one of the better additions to Paris Marathon 2027 registration.
Runners can create a group containing two to six people and enter the Paris Marathon lottery together. The group receives the same lottery result, which means you avoid planning an international marathon trip where half of your group receives entries and everyone else gets rejected.
You do not have to run the marathon together just because you entered the Paris Marathon drawing as a group.

Are There Other Ways to Enter the Paris Marathon 2027?
The general Paris Marathon lottery is not the only route into the race. Charity entries will continue to provide another option for runners who miss the general drawing and are willing to fundraise for a participating organization.

Why Did the Paris Marathon Change to a Lottery?
The new lottery changes Paris Marathon registration from a speed contest into a drawing. Runners no longer need to sit online waiting for registration to open, although they now have to deal with uncertainty over whether they will actually receive a Paris Marathon bib.
Paris joins a growing number of high-demand international races where wanting to run the marathon does not automatically mean you can register for it.
For anyone hoping to race in 2027, the important dates are simple: enter the Paris Marathon lottery before September 30, 2026, then begin checking for Paris Marathon lottery results starting October 1.
