RYZE Mushroom Coffee is one of those products that seems to appear everywhere once you search for it once. Whatever they are doing, they are putting a lot of money into their social media adds…LOL have you been sucked into their AI video advertising? It’s super catchy and maybe one of the few ads I watched for more than a minute.
The marketing for RYZE focuses heavily on focus, mental clarity, energy, gut health, and the benefits of functional mushrooms. I have reviewed mushroom coffee before, including Four Sigmatic Coffee and Four Sigmatic Instant Coffee, but RYZE has become one of the biggest names in the category.
The 2026 RYZE Mushroom Coffee is different from the product described in many older reviews. RYZE changed its Medium Roast formula in October 2025, replacing coconut milk and MCT powders with acacia, inulin, and tapioca prebiotic fibers. RYZE now sells both a 48 mg caffeine Medium Roast and a Dark Roast with about 80–90 mg.
Most people researching RYZE seem interested in something beyond taste and I know I am too.
Does RYZE actually help with focus?
Is there enough Lion’s Mane to do anything?
How long would cognitive benefits take?
Why are people complaining about the subscription?
Can RYZE cause bloating?
Those ended up being more interesting questions than whether mushroom coffee tastes like mushrooms. (It does not)
Let’s get into an honest RYZE Mushroom Coffee review. I bought it myself because their ads sucked me in…I wanted to know…is RYZE Mushroom Coffee worth it?
RYZE Mushroom Coffee FAQ
Does RYZE still have MCT oil?
The current Medium Roast does not. RYZE replaced coconut milk and MCT powders with acacia, inulin, and tapioca fibers in October 2025.
Does RYZE contain actual coffee?
Yes. The current Medium Roast uses organic instant Arabica coffee and has approximately 48 mg of caffeine per serving.
Are RYZE mushrooms psychedelic?
No. The six mushrooms used by RYZE are functional mushrooms and do not have psychedelic effects.
How long does an opened bag of RYZE last?
RYZE says an opened product stays fresh for about three months, while a sealed bag can last up to 12 months.
Can you buy RYZE without subscribing?
Yes. RYZE has a one-time purchase option through its Shop All/Shop on Demand area.

What Is in RYZE Mushroom Coffee?
The current Medium Roast contains organic instant Arabica coffee, RYZE’s Super6 mushroom blend, acacia fiber, inulin fiber, and tapioca fiber. The six mushrooms are Cordyceps, Reishi, King Trumpet, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, and Lion’s Mane.
A lot of information still floating around Google says RYZE contains coconut milk and MCT oil. That describes the previous Medium Roast. RYZE’s own older pages still contain references to MCT, while the current 2026 Medium Roast documentation specifically says those ingredients were replaced.
Does RYZE Mushroom Coffee Improve Focus or Cognitive Function?
There is human research on Lion’s Mane, but the results are not strong enough to say drinking RYZE has been proven to improve memory or cognition. A 2024 review included 34 human studies involving mushrooms and neurocognition. Observational studies were generally encouraging, while the 10 intervention studies had mixed results.
Lion’s Mane was studied most often, and researchers concluded that larger and better-designed human trials are still needed.
A 2023 randomized pilot study followed 41 healthy adults ages 18–45 who took 1.8 grams of Lion’s Mane daily for 28 days. Researchers found faster performance on one cognitive test after an acute dose and a trend toward lower stress after four weeks, while several other cognitive outcomes did not differ significantly from placebo.
A separate 2025 study gave 18 healthy younger adults a 3-gram Lion’s Mane fruiting-body extract. There was no significant improvement in overall cognitive performance or mood, although one individual psychomotor test improved.
That brings up my biggest question with RYZE. The Dark Roast contains 2,000 mg of the combined six-mushroom blend, but RYZE does not list how much of that total is Lion’s Mane. You cannot take a study using 1.8 or 3 grams of Lion’s Mane and assume a six-mushroom coffee blend produces the same result.
Is the Focus Benefit with RYZE From Lion’s Mane or Caffeine?
This gets overlooked in a lot of mushroom coffee reviews. RYZE Medium Roast contains about 48 mg of caffeine. Caffeine has much stronger evidence for an immediate effect on attention than RYZE itself does. A 2025 meta-analysis of 31 randomized trials found that caffeine improved both reaction time and accuracy on attention tests, and an earlier controlled study found measurable improvements in attention and alertness from a 60 mg dose.
That does not mean Lion’s Mane contributes nothing but if someone drinks RYZE and feels more focused 45 minutes later, it is difficult to separate the mushroom blend from the caffeine.
How Long Does RYZE Take to Help With Focus?
There is no established answer because RYZE Mushroom Coffee itself has not been tested in clinical trials for cognition.
Lion’s Mane studies have looked at everything from acute effects within a few hours to supplementation lasting several weeks. The results vary, and the preparations used in those studies are different from RYZE’s combined mushroom blend.
If I were trying RYZE specifically for cognitive benefits, I would not judge it based on one cup…you need to use it for a month or two, keep your caffeine the same, and see how you feel.
RYZE Medium Roast vs. Dark Roast
The biggest difference is caffeine in the RYZE Mushroom Coffee medium versus dark roast. Medium Roast has about 48 mg per serving, while Dark Roast has approximately 80–90 mg. Dark Roast also explicitly lists 2,000 mg of the Super6 mushroom blend and has a fuller coffee profile with chocolate notes.
Someone trying to reduce caffeine may prefer Medium Roast. Someone accustomed to a normal morning coffee may find Dark Roast closer to what they expect from coffee.
RYZE Mushroom Coffee Taste:
Does RYZE Mushroom Coffee taste like coffee? No.
Does RYZE Mushroom Coffee taste like mushrooms? No.
This is one of the most common questions and I was curious too…quite frankly I don’t like mushrooms! First, a lot of people think the RYZE Mushroom Coffee tastes bad and the RYZE Mushroom Coffee does not taste like coffee.
If you are thinking that RYZE Mushroom Coffee tastes like coffee, I can assure you it does not. I tend to agree it’s not a perfect substitution or match for coffee. Do I think RYZE Mushroom coffee tastes bad? No. It just tastes different and not like coffee. I do not think RYZE Mushroom Coffee tastes like mushrooms either. It’s a different taste but not bad.
Can RYZE Cause Bloating or Gas?
It can happen, especially because the current Medium Roast contains inulin and other prebiotic fibers. Inulin is a fermentable fiber. Human trials generally find it well tolerated, although gas and bloating are among the more frequently reported gastrointestinal symptoms, particularly as intake rises. This came up repeatedly while searching RYZE discussions and reviews. If you already know inulin or prebiotic fibers bother your stomach, I would start with a smaller serving instead of testing two cups on day one.
For runners, I would take the same approach before using RYZE ahead of a workout. I have a separate guide to the best energy gels for sensitive stomachs if you are looking for actual endurance fuel.
Will RYZE Make You Trip?
No. RYZE does not contain psychedelic mushrooms.
RYZE uses functional mushrooms, and its current ingredient information specifically states that they are distinct from psychedelic mushrooms and do not have hallucinogenic effects. This question sounds random until you look at what people are actually Googling about mushroom coffee.
Is RYZE Mushroom Coffee a Scam?
RYZE sells an actual coffee product, and you can make a one-time purchase. Personally, I would buy from Amazon so you aren’t linked to an accidental subscription you don’t want.
RYZE’s current terms state that subscriptions renew automatically every 30 days and must be canceled at least 24 hours before the next shipment if you want to avoid that order. The company allows cancellation through the customer portal, email, text, or social media.
There are numerous 2026 BBB complaints from customers who say they did not realize they had enrolled in auto-ship or had difficulty canceling. RYZE has responded to many of those complaints with refunds or cancellations.
My advice is simple: if you only want to try RYZE once, choose the Buy Once option and take a screenshot of the checkout page.
Is RYZE Worth It?
The current promotional subscription price is $27 for 30 servings, followed by a $36 refill. A one-time bag is currently $40.50.
I think the cognitive research is interesting enough to follow, particularly around Lion’s Mane, but I would not buy RYZE expecting a noticeable memory upgrade. Choose it are lower caffeine, instant preparation, the mushroom blend, and whether you like the taste enough to drink it regularly.
