SOAR Running Apparel Review

Advertisements

I was really excited to try SOAR Running Apparel. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this high quality brand. While it may be one of the more expensive options on the market, you can’t discount the quality and engineering that went into it. I’ve tried some expensive running brands throughout the years and they have left me disappointed. Like why pay that much for something that doesn’t feel premium. Well, SOAR Running is definitely not that. Plus, SOAR Running is committed to sustainability and that is super important to me.

Before trying SOAR Running I had a couple of questions:

About SOAR Running the Brand:

SOAR Running, founded in 2015 by designer and runner Tim Soar in Hackney, London, is dedicated to creating running apparel that meets the high standards of runners worldwide. The brand integrates the latest in textile innovation, pioneering design technology, and sports science, along with the real-world experiences of runners, to produce garments that truly reflect the commitment and passion of the running community. SOAR Running’s mission is to deliver performance-oriented apparel that enhances the running experience through both function and form.

SOAR Running Gear I tried:

SOAR Race Vest

$110

Size worn: Small

What makes the SOAR Race Vest Different?

I was really intrigued to try the SOAR Race Vest. It isn’t just another running singlet; it’s designed with minimal design combining breathability with a race-ready cut. This is the fourth version that has a better cut in the back designed to improve motion in the shoulders.

It features high-performance Italian-made open mesh SPACE3D fabric, which is designed to excel in sweat wicking to prevent overheating during hard efforts. The first time I wore the SOAR Race Vest, I was amazed. It is possibly the lightest running top I’ve ever owned and it feels like you aren’t wearing anything. It’s stylish and comfortable, and it moves with you. I haven’t had any issues with it chafing or hurting my skin. It is the perfect top for super hot days (or race days) because it truly feels like you aren’t wearing anything. While $110 is not cheap, I can’t emphasize how high quality the SOAR Race Vest truly is. This ultralight race day top is one of the nicest running singlets I’ve ever seen or worn.

Speed Shorts:

$175

Size worn: small

What makes the Speed Shorts Different?

The SOAR Speed Shorts are designed for women who favor half-tights for their long-distance races. It’s me, I am the woman! I don’t know how I ever ran in shorter shorts that didn’t have pockets. This new design incorporates a pocket to store gels or your cell phone. Admittedly, I was concerned with the location of the pocket on the SOAR Speed Shorts. Would the gels or phone bounce? The answer is no, and I’ve done some hard efforts in them including all out 400s with my giant phone in the pocket.

The SOAR Speed Shorts also feature compression and are designed to support the major muscle groups of the upper leg. The shorts are engineered from SOAR Running’s proprietary, featherweight French woven fabric. There is nothing like the feel of the SOAR  Speed Shorts.

I haven’t had any issues with them riding up or moving while running. You can tell they are designed with quality in mind. They are by far the highest weight short I’ve ever owned and it feels like I’m running in nothing. Plus, the pocket makes them ideal. These are definitely your racing shorts, and you’ll feel fast doing so.

Cost: $$$

The elephant in the room is that SOAR Running is not cheap. At $175 for shorts and $110 for vests, I will say this: it can be hard to justify that price. But, I truly believe SOAR Running is some of the nicest running clothing I’ve ever seen or tried. The quality is extremely high and worth the price.

SOAR Running Conclusion:

So in all, while SOAR Running is one of the most expensive options on the market, the quality is one of the best in the industry. You won’t be disappointed if you try them.I’m definitely looking into trying their race crops and marathon shorts next.

Who should purchase SOAR Running apparel? Anyone looking for ultralight, high quality gear that feels like you aren’t wearing anything,

Who should not purchase SOAR Running apparel? The only reason I can think of is if it isn’t in your budget. It fits and feels great.
