So Fly in July

Pardon the title, it was either so fly it July or in July I will be a social butterfly…bahaha.

So I have been telling myself I will get back on top of blogging but have been so busy it has clearly been a fail.  I have been wanting to do a food blog and for some reason I have just not been in the mood.  Maybe my food has essentially been the same…maybe I forget to charge my camera or maybe I just quite frankly don’t feel like sharing what I’m eating.  Actually it is just more or less that my food is boring and won’t interest anyone at the current moment.  I mean unless sandwiches are your jive…


But anywho-Can you believe it’s already July? 

Do I need to make July goals like many of my favorite blogging besties?

Possibly because I have been so scatterbrained lately but I actually have a lot of adventures planned for July to keep me in check so we shall see.

Since you are oh so curious about stalking my July Schedule-I’ll share with you my tentative plans and festivities.  Then I can also refer back here when I forget what the hell is going on in my life.

July 4th 5k

and taking one of these shots to celebrate Anna's 1 year running anniversary. Wow this was a year ago. Holy schmee time flies.

July 5th I believe I have a nighttime 4 mile race.  It’s part of a group of races called the summer series but I should probably look into it ha.  It isn’t as serious as most road races and that is why I love them.  To run is fun-because running is funning sounds like I never graduated from elementary school.  

July 6-8-I’ll be in New York City dropping on the broski to college.  AH-I’m going to miss him a ton blergy berg.  I won’t be able to talk to him but on Sundays for about 5 minutes for the first couple of months.

No more running bestie. 🙁

July 12th is my 21st birthday.  Feel free to send me a pair of granny panties because I’m actually 20 going on 99.

July 16th is a hugh jass race called the Allen Stone Run Swim Run.

1k run on the beach-1k swim in the ocean-5k run on the boardwalk.  I won last year so I kinda would like to repeat that.

July 21-26-I’ll be tentatively traveling and probs away from the blog.

July 30th-I have a 2 mile open water swim just North of New York City.  My relatives all come and do it too-it’s like way to much of my cray cray family.  I’ll literally be able to see Matt’s college-but can I visit?  No.

Seriously-I am one busy woman in July.  Good heavens.  It will most certainly be my most busy month of summer as August dies down.


As far as this weeks stats go:

Running: 62 miles

Swimming: 2 hours

Cross training: 2 hours

This was a heavy week for me and next week tapers down again.  Since I will be traveling to NYC and doing 2 races, it’s important for me to realize that I’m not going to be able to get all the heavy training that I can normally get at home.  We shall see how everything goes and no need to get my panties in a bunch that I won’t be running and swimming as much as both training plans call for.

Hypothetically I’d like to get: 50 miles of running and an hour of swimming, but I’m not holding my breath.

Well like I said.  Anna and I have a 5k July 4th.  I would like to be under 21 minutes right now.  I have no speed work because of my heels so anything under 21 minutes I’ll be pretty pleased.  By the end of the summer-I should be under 19:30 at least.

I had some of my favorite carbs for dinner to prepare of course.  I love this Greek restaurant.  I had the baked pasta with gyro meat and pita bread with feta cheese.  Can you say I’m overly full and is my belly.  #hellyes

Food Day Monday and Real Girl Streaks

Okay yes.  True life:  I promised I would do a food blog soon and what better way than Monday.  Wow is it already another Monday?  And not just any Monday!  It’s the mom’s birthday.

So yes.  My weekend went Matt’s graduation, fathers day and now the moms birthday.  Tomorrow is also epic as my pool opens but it isn’t quite a um…celebration.

This is when my azz actually sat in a guard stand. Now I just deal with the problem people.

 Without further ado: nom noms of the day

This is now my working week of summer time hours when I wake up errday at 6am.  I go to the gym to either lift, swim or run outdoors from 6:30-7:30.  It depends on my mood and how I slept the night before.  I do not run on tired legs.  It’s not my jive.  EVER.

I come home, make breakfast and am out the door by 8:15 since I need to be there at 8:30. Except Mondays because that’s my day off since the pool isn’t open on Mondays.  I thought I would at least get into the routine today.

Breakfast today was…just for the occasion of food blogging and changing it up.  Two egg sandwiches.

I had a ton of homework for my online classes so I caught up on that all morning.  Then I was already starving by say 11:30 so I decided to make myself more tuna fish sandwiches.  Sandwiches must have been my jive today.

Then I got my aerobic action on, as I do every Monday.  So I guess I don’t really have the day off, but I don’t consider aerobics to be much work.  The ladies are hilarious and the time always flies right on by.  Today I integrated superbass and finally found a good remix of party rock anthem.  I swear the ladies wish they had my booty beats aerobics CD when they were off on their own outside of class.  They always ask for all the songs bahaha.  I’m a terrible influence.

Dinner was the mom’s favorite (similar to my favorite I suppose).  Ham, sweet potatoes and corn.  Does anyone else have a strange addiction to ham?  I find it incredibly tasty. 

Oh and I’m a 4 day real girl streak.  I know you probably are as shocked as I am.

Someone asked on formspring if I could do a timetable of my day.

It’s Wednesday and therefore one of the many WIAW acronyms could apply here I guess…Isn’t the purpose of my blog to show what I ate, wore, and did errday anyways.  Actually it’s just for me to ramble on about things of my choosing..

Although I’m fascinated by WIAW and all the other jazzy blogging acronyms, I cannot limit myself to only doing that on Wednesdays.  I mean that blog post would end up being a short novel of my entire week and I don’t think you could handle that.  I know I know-you are just waiting for me to write up my first book.  All in due time blogging besties


I’ll tell you exactly what I did today though to a T-just for the sake of Wednesdays. 

I woke up at 6:45 and picked up Anna at 7 for a lovely dreadmill date.  We needed gossip.  I know you totally want to be my bestie because when I desperately need to talk to you we end up going on dates to the gym.  Next time we will bond over ice-cream.

Oh yes I went there and took a picture in the gym.

Random random medical mystery here that aDuBs and I discussed:  I’m a swimmer yes and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. 

aDuBs swam 3000 meters (can I get a hell yeah?) yesterday and her calves are sore!  Has that happened to you?  Why would your calves be sore from freestyle swimming?  In my bazillion years of swimming, I have never had sore calves. Sore shoulders? Yes.  Sore ass?  Yes.  Sore calves?  Never.

After catching up on some blogs from 8-10, I went to my pool in the hood.

I love that pool almost as much as I love babies...

I needed to clean, check chemicals blah blah blah.  The pool was pretty clean (because I have been cleaning and chlorinating it for a solid two weeks) so it didn’t take terribly long.  Maybe I got a little tanner while there too.  Just wait until the end of the summer…last summer they began to think I was from Puerto Rico…

From about 1-3, I cleaned out my room.  You see I have about a bazillion stuffed animals and such that you would probably think my room is meant for a twelve year old.  True life: I’m 20 years old and don’t need all the crap I currently possess.  My oldest brother is coming over (from Seattle) for Matt’s graduation so we have been busy cleaning like it’s our job).


Wednesdays are my double of running day and I ended up having a quite reflective second run.

Home 5.5 Loop 5.47 mi 00:41 07:26 pace

This was a rather reflecting run for me today actually. A year and a half ago (Christmas Day 2009) the daddykins showed me this route (because all the gyms are closed on Christmas…go figure). We ended up running it in about an hour. Actually it was 1:01. God knows I was sore for days. Last summer I was consistently running this same route in about 45 minutes. Today I ran it in a little less than 41 after already running 8 miles. Needless to say this route has seen me running more than any other. It was somewhat how running and I became besties.

No music as I have needed to take some time and really reflect on some other things going on in my life at the moment and somehow 50 cent rapping about going to a candy shop wouldn’t have helped me in my thought process to much.


Then when I got home, my protein had arrived.  True life: I ran out of protein and had to crack into my secret emergency stash yesterday and today. 

They also sent me a body building kit because I spend a fortune on there.  Ooh goodie thanks for all these free samples.  Maybe I’ll be as ripped as Becca!

For dinner I grilled mahi mahi, sautéed kale (they finally freaking had some at the Krogar) and cooked one of those microwavable broccoli thingys because I love them but only if they come with the fake cheese.

Here is what will shock for the day though.  For my class today, I went as a real girl (it’s like it was Halloween or something).  I didn’t wear my compression sleeves or grimy tshirt but normal clothing.  It was a proud accomplishment in my life.
