FitStudio

As most people know, I was a SEARS ambassador throughout the Holiday months.  In exchange for Holiday gift cards (which we bought lots of Christmas lights), I posted about my Holiday shopping.  They have asked me to continue working with them on another campaign and I could not be more excited.

Sears has partnered and created a new website called Fitstudio.  My role as a Sears blogger is to bring awareness to this new website.  I don’t receive  compensation if you click the link, ect. I wanted to wait a few weeks to test out the website for myself to gather my own thoughts.  I can’t bring awareness to something I don’t know anything about.

————-

The website FitStudio.com by Sears allows you to put your fitness apps and tools to good use and get rewarded at the same time. Not only that but it features gear reviews, rewards, exercises, workout programs, and tips.

The short summary is: Fitstudio is a new social media website that allows you to exchange exercise for points.  You can use the points to shop at Sears.   One thing I personally like is that the app is completely free.  There are a lot of online workout programs that cost a monthly fee to belong too.  They also give exclusive deals to their members.  Yesterday I could have saved a bunch of money on a new elliptical (just for being a member).

Not only is it free but it rewards you for being active with the Points for Progress program’s #Achieve15 (wahoo more hashtags)

How to Earn Points:

The #Achieve15 program encourages members to run or walk 15 miles or burn 1,500 calories each week.  Then they reward you for achieving these goals with $5 of Shop Your Way.  So each 15 mile week goes towards Sears store credit.  You can break this up however you like: 15 mile run…1 mile walk 15 times…whatever.

Before I was a Sears blogger I had a general idea of items Sears sold.  I have bought several pieces of clothing, power tools (not for me LOLZ), furniture and jewelry at Sears.  When I became a Sears blogger and did more research, I learned how extensive their online store is.  I had no idea Sears has almost as much stuff as amazon.  It’s overwhelming.

Fitstudio allows you to earn SEARS credit to purchase anything online.  You earn money just by being active.  For some people (which is easily the majority of people reading LOLZ!), they could be earning 5 dollars a week just by utilizing the new fitstudio social media website.

Last Minute Shopping

To be honest if I wasn’t on the Sears Blogger Squad I would have started my Holiday shopping the week before Christmas (IE: this week).  Every year I’m always a late starter but I’ve always gotten what I’ve needed.  This year being a part of the holiday blogger campaign with Sears, I felt the pressure to start a little bit earlier (LOLZ, blogging pressure).  Everyone is different and I even know people that had half their Holiday shopping done before Black Friday (go you guys!).

I  know people that start their Holiday shopping in May.  By Black Friday, they are pretty much done with everything.  I also know there are people like me, who panic and start 5 days before Christmas.  Everyone’s different and in reality, the Holiday’s are about enjoying the company of family and friends anyways.  My Holiday shopping is never stressful and I hope other people’s isn’t either.

This year was a bit of an odd ball year for me.  I would have normally started shopping for everyone this week (Last minute LOLZ).  Since T has to leave and I am working in retail during the holidays, that wasn’t an option.   I am almost completely done with shopping except for my parents.  Sometimes I think my parents are the hardest to shop for.

———

I came across this LOLZy article from Huffington post about Christmas shopping.  I can relate to almost everything.  I thought the post was so relateable I wanted to dedicate a post to it!

Two tips really stuck with me: The first was “stay to the list”.  I love when someone gives me a list of things they want for Christmas.  Sadly most adults don’t give lists and I’m stuck guessing what people want…if everyone gave a list I think Holiday shopping would be easy.

christmas list meme

One thing I have been enjoying about doing holiday shopping at Sears is free shipping or the free in store pickup.  It keeps me able to stick to lists.  I just ordere what I want I want/need and pick it up.  I don’t mindless browse.

Mindlessly browsing stores always ends up like this:

Buy the gifts intended to purchase for friends and family .

Buy random things for Hollie she doesn’t need.

End up spending twice as much on random things Hollie doesn’t need.

I ordered all of Tim’s gifts online and then picked them up in store.  It makes it really nice.  Sears has been a staple for 75% of my gift purchasing this year.  I cannot thank them enough for opening my eyes to some of the great deals.

The second was that smart shoppers don’t buy something, “just because it’s cheap”.  I’m someone who doesn’t care for trivial junk.  If I haven’t used an item in a year, I donate it.  This includes clothing, random accessories or anything in general.  I always ask myself “will I even use this”?  Yes, it’s cheap but it’s pointless if (or the person intended) won’t use it.

So long post short my holiday shopping is almost done.  I have a few odds and ends left to purchase but all the major shopping is finally completed.

Black Friday at Sears

Black Friday is an emotional time of year.  I would know I’ve gone Black Friday Shopping the last 5 years.  In all honesty I don’t ever get the best deals and I don’t camp out overnight but I love the thrill of getting a deal (Does that make me sound like a shopping addict?).

I found the article: 15 Emotional Stages of Black Friday Shopping LOLZ worthy and true (Probably because they had the Tyra Banks snap and wave).

For me I never struggled with waking up early.  I always had coffee ready to go.  I struggled with the overhwleming crowds and people running around.  As someone who suffered from social anxiety and chalustrophia, having people running around screaming for deals.  After I went I felt oddly accomplished that I had been out there (and it was probably only 8 am).

This year however, I am on the other side and working on Black Friday.  Since I work at a running store, we aren’t as busy as Sears is but we will be busy.  I should do a 15 Emotional stages of Working on Black Friday.

This year Sears has everything you could possibly need or want, making it a great stop.  Sears will open 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day and have over 1,000 doorbuster deals.  1000 deals of 1000 items!. While you are letting our turkey digest, you have the option to head into a Sears and shop.

One item I’m eyeballing myself is the Sears NordicTrack® C900i Treadmill;that will be 800 dollars off.  I don’t need a treadmill at my house but it’s a great treadmill and the price is inexpensive (700 dollars for a nice treadmill is a great price).

Anyways partnering with Sears for the Holidays, they asked to talk more about Black Friday shopping and my personal Christmas list.

Something I am personally asking for is a new coffee maker.  My coffee pot has lasted me since sophomore year of college (I know you are probably as shocked as I am).  It is starting to fall apart so I’ve been searching around for a nice coffee maker.

I had no idea that some coffee makers cost over 850 dollars.  I would prefer to buy 850 gas station coffees for that price.  I wanted something that I had the option to brew a lot or a little.  One of my housemates had this one, so I decided this one would be awesome.

As I said a few posts about, Tim really enjoys getting his tools at Sears.  There are a few appliances I have my eyes on for him such as Craftsman Home Series 3-Drawer Project Center.  I’ll probably get the red because that matches our house.  (Just kidding, I’ll get him whichever one he wants LOL).

Finally all Sears deals at your local Sears can be seen at searslocalad.com so you can figure out your plan.  (If you are anything like LOLZ then you thrive on planning).

Sears: Reserve it

In this post we’d love to see the following:

  • Share an experience when you wish you’d had Reserve It
  • Include #SearsReserveIt and #MoreMerry in social content promoting your posts

————-

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I am taking on my first real sponsored campaign with a company I’ve been buying clothing from since middle school…Sears!  When they originally contacted me a while ago, I was ecstatic.  I thought it might be a dream come true because I actually shop at Sears, they are a great company and I enjoy their products.  I actually got one of my favorite green formal college dresses from Sears a few years back.

Actually looking back, I have bought several dresses from Sears.  I’ve purchased many outfits in general but I would say at least half of my dress collection is from Sears.

Sears is primarily releasing this for the Holidays but it will be available year round!  I know a lot of people don’t want think about Holidays yet.  I’m not sure if I’m in that majority.  I love the Holiday season (except for when people think they are clever to sing “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas).  I enjoy picking out what I think people will like (or in reality what people tell me they will like).  I enjoy that despite the cold, people have a great attitude and enjoy life.  Also, Tim’s birthday is in the Holiday season!

Anyways this year Sears is coming out with a new service called “Reserve it”.  It’s a new service that allows you to browse the Sears website online and then reserve it in store.  Then when you arrive at the store your selections are hand-picked, ready and waiting for you to try on (or whatever…if you just wanted to pick up in store).

With Reserve It, you can easily shop online for clothing, shoes or more, place them on hold in store with just one click and then try them on in-store.  For me personally, I get overwhelmed going into a store with no “game plan”.  I like to have a mental plan of what I want to do and how I want to do it. I don’t want to spend hours browsing things that I don’t really want.  I end up buying things that I don’t want or need and not usually leaving with the product I wanted.

Something that is even cooler is that you can see what styles, colors and sizes are available at your local store.  You don’t have to spend hours looking at Sears that isn’t carrying what you originally wanted.  That is something that has happened to me several times (and a huge reason why I shop and purchase online).

Reserve is so simple to use even LOLZ can do it:

Log in in to your Shop Your Way account on Sears.com.

Select your local Sears store (the products that are available in that store are the only ones to show up).

Then Click “Reserve in Store”.  You’ll get an email when they are ready and Sears will hold the item for 48 hours.

Go to the Reserve It rack located in the women’s apparel section and try your items on in-store.

Optional step: Look like a throwback from the 80s.

Optional step: Look like a throwback from the 80s…sweet Nike Pegasus too.

They also included a video of people talking more in depth about it.  Sadly they did not choose me to talk about all the time I have wasted browsing Sears looking for a dress or outfit I wanted.

For me personally, I wish all stores had this.  While I think it’s great for the Holidays, I think it’s the best for shopping for yourself too.  A lot of the time you go into a store knowing a basic idea of what you want.  Do you need a new pair of jeans, a shirt, shorts…whatever you need or want.  You spend an hour or so browsing and one of these things happen:

1. You find the perfect item (but not in your size).

2. You find 10 perfect items and spend 10 times the amount of money and time that you meant too.

I have personally been enjoying using “Reserve it” by looking online and then checking if it is in the store (in my size).  I beeline it to the reserve it section.  I try it on (and either it fits or doesn’t fit).  I might casually browse around but since I have an exact plan, I don’t spend too much time browsing.  I feel like I have a much better plan because I know what peaked my interest online.  Plus in both situations I have used Reserve it, I have ended up liking the product and then not needing to pay (and wait for) shipping.  One of my biggest pet peeves for companies is expensive and a long wait period for shipping.

Thanks Sears for allowing me to be apart of this campaign.  I look forward to continuing to use and promote the Reserve it Service throughout the Holidays!

Sears is sponsoring this post.  All dresses were purchased by me.

Wedding Registry Fun

Sears gave me a great opportunity to work with them through some sponsored posts for the Holidays.  Sears has been one of my favorite department stores since as long as I needed clothing.  I don’t often post about clothing, shopping, life or anything like that.  I find myself boring in that aspect.  So when I was contacted to be a part of a Sears campaign, I was more than thrilled.  It gives me a way to switch up my posts a bit more and show another aspect of my life…It’s also humorous because Tim buys all his tools (for fixing cars, the things I break, etc.) at Sears so he was more than thrilled too.  It’s the only department store he will go too (mostly because I say go get a new shirt…and he spends 5 minutes in the shirt section and 55 in the tools section).

So long story short, I think Sears are a great company and I enjoy what they stand behind.  It’s a big reason I jumped on board with this campaign.  Between now and January, I will be doing a few sponsored posts with Sears.  Sears gave me a lot of different options and methods to help promote them but I chose topics that related to me.  One aspect that is important to me is to stay relevant to my life.  If I wouldn’t or have never used a product, I’m not going to post about it.  It doesn’t make sense.

Sears Brings More To You

While looking through the videos they sent me, this video inspired me (inspired and motivated me to get going on more wedding things).

It’s not a secret that Tim and I are getting married next Spring.  I’ve done a few updates on the wedding but I do owe another one soon.

One thing we have been working on is creating a wedding registry.  We had various ideas of where we wanted to create a wedding registry and one of these places was already Sears.  Tim purchases a lot of tools from Sears to work on his car.  We joke but his “man cave” is the garage.  We have a two car garage…but neither are for my car.

I purchase a lot from Sears for our house as well as clothing in general.  It seemed like a no brainer to go to Sears and actually set up a wedding registry.  Since we have lived together for over a year now, we do have a lot of things for our house.  It’s a lot harder to figure out things we want and need.

My research beforehand was “how to create a wedding registry”.  In about five minutes I figured out what I needed to and we left.  It’s supposed to be fun right?

Me: Yes, it's supposed to be fun. T: Why must we take all these photos

Me: Yes, it’s supposed to be fun.
T: Why must we take all these photos

Anyways we headed to the Sears down the road to create our registry.  One thing I like about Sears is there are a lot and they are easily accessible.  Pretty much anyone from around the country can go look at our wedding registry.  It’s so easy for everyone involved.

The employees at Sears were very friendly and helpful.  They basically walked us through the entire process so that we “couldn’t” mess up.

After they set us loose we walked around Sears for about an hour looking at things we liked.

Walking around scanning things...

Including this hot kiss pillow…well maybe just me.

Yes I love this hot kiss pillow (and blogging)

OMG I love this hot kiss pillow and blogging

So another aspect of our wedding is done (probably not the most important) but one of the most fun.  Who doesn’t like shopping?  Sears has such a great variety of things from appliances, to coffee mugs, tables and furniture to tools.

We chose to make a wedding registry at Sears and Sears compensated me for this post.  All thoughts and opinions are LOLZ.
