Woody’s Diner (Huntington Beach)

Woody's Diner (Huntington Beach)

I was excited to go to Woody’s Diner in Huntington Beach. I haven’t been to a new diner in a few months since  Mama’s on 39, which is also in Huntington Beach. Anyway, I noticed that it had a drive-thru which seemed super fun, so we decided to go through that.

Woody's Diner (Huntington Beach)

Woody’s Diner Atmosphere:

The diner is modern with a definite beachy theme. There is outside seating under a patio and plenty of indoor seating with booths and tables. As mentioned, we decided to go through the drive-thru so my view of the inside was only from the drive-thru window.

I’ve only been to a few diners that had a drive-thru, so it was a fun experience. It had a drive-thru, so I imagined it was more of a fast-food-style restaurant, but actually, it’s a full-service restaurant.

Coffee: X

I did not order coffee this time around. Despite drinking a lot of coffee, I haven’t been drinking a lot at diners lately.

Woody’s Diner Food: A

There are plenty of diner food options on the Woody’s Diner menu. I was overwhelmed with what to get. Honestly, I thought it would be a fast-food type of restaurant, so I imagined a lot of fried food and easy-to-make things like burgers. But that was far from the case, and the Woody’s Diner menu has all sorts of things from breakfast to lunch options to salads. A few of the Woody’s Diner menu items that stuck out to me include:

  • Loaded Nachos: beans, grated cheese, green onion, pico de Gallo, sour cream, guacamole, and jalapenos.
  • Woody’s World Famous Super Spuds: hashbrowns smothered in jack and cheddar cheese. Topped with bacon bits, mushrooms, avocado, sour cream, and green onions.
  • Ray San: Eggs, tomato, cheddar cheese, bacon, and mayo on grilled sourdough.
  • The Build Your Own Omelet
  • Pastrami Burger: Pastrami, burger patty, swiss cheese, pickle, lettuce, tomato, and mustard.
  • Chili Cheese Dog: Woody’s chili, cheddar, and jack cheese on an all-beef hot dog.

Finally, I decided to order Woody’s World Famous Super Spuds because they are world-famous after all. The waitress mentioned I could order eggs with it, and I decided to order scrambled. The Super Spuds were tasty, and they were some of my favorite hashbrowns to date. I was happy with my decision and had no regrets. I can see why they are so popular.

Woody’s Diner Service:

Our food was ready within 10 minutes of being at the drive-through. It was probably the fastest diner yet.

Cost:

For the World Famous Super Spuds, it was $8.50. I was surprised that some of the salads were around $15! But other than that, it wasn’t too expensive.

Woody’s Diner Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back?

I enjoyed my time at Woody’s Diner, and I would come back. They have many fun options, and it’s one of the more true diners I’ve been to in California.
